2 Incidents On July 2 nd, an individual reported that he saw a dog that may be in distress in the Assabet River. Maynard Police Department and Maynard Fire Department responded, and the boat was launched to search the area. After thoroughly searching the area, it was determined there was no dog in distress. On July 20 th, Sergeant Duggan and Officer Brennan responded for mutual aid to Sudbury for a disturbance. They were able to assist in removing a large number of people from the premises. Mill and Main Place security have reported an increase in graffiti in the parking garage. Officers have increased patrols of the area, are working closely with security, and are investigating the incidents.

3 Community Outreach The Maynard Police and Fire Relief Associations sponsored a July 4 th weekend carnival at the Fowler School. The carnival was a huge success, and we loved seeing so much of our community out having a great time. The money raised from events such as the carnival allows for the Associations to give back to our community, in form of scholarships, youth academies and other charitable giving. We will be co-sponsoring another carnival in October, that will be held in the Mill and Main Parking lot. We hope to see you there! The 2 nd Annual Maynard Police Department Relief Association Golf Tournament was held on July 10 th. We had an excellent showing from residents, business owners, Maynard Police Department staff (and family members). We were able to raise a significant amount of money, that will be used toward community outreach. The wheels have already begun turning for 2018 s tournament! On July 19 th, Officer Brennan represented the Maynard Police Department at the Maynard Public Library s Truck Day. Officer Brennan was able to show the children one of the Police Cruisers. Lieutenant Noble and Detective Bodwell presented Michael Ford with a $1,000 scholarship to use toward his education at Mass Bay Community College, where he begins this fall. This summer we have a recent Maynard High School graduate working at here at the Maynard Police Department, Delia Donovan. She has been helping with various tasks, as well as learning all of the different roles within the Department. She will be attending UMASS Boston in the fall, with a focus in Criminal Justice. One of the highlights this month was the Maynard Police Department Youth Academy, and it was incredibly successful. If you follow our Facebook and Twitter accounts, I am sure that you saw all of the activities the Student Officers, and members of the Maynard Police Department took part in. A very special thank you to Detective Sweeney and Officer Manchuso for leading the academy again this year.

4 Training Chief Dubois and Communications Supervisor Finnerty attended a meeting in Middleborough with the State E911 Department to discuss our upcoming transition into Next Gen E911 from the current system, Vesta Pallas. The transition will occur in September 2017, the new system will allow our Public Safety Dispatchers to better serve the community with updated technology and equipment. On July 15 th, Neil Maskalenko graduated from the Northern Essex Community College Police Academy. Officer Maskalenko will be sworn in on August 1 st and will begin his training.
