1 20 June 2018 General Membership Meeting Minutes Universal City Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association Universal City Public Works Building Board members Present: President Harry Finke, Vice-President Dan Meyer, Treasurer Brenda Hester and Secretary Laurie Hancock Quorum Call (20 members needed for quorum) There were 35 UCCPAAA members, Speaker Jaime Correa and Sergeant Dan Carmona in attendance. Call Meeting to Order The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by President Harry Finke. Pledge of Allegiance and Moment of Silence These were led by President Harry Finke in memory of all the policemen that have given their lives in the line of duty. Introduction of Officers Dan introduced several officers to the members that were at the meeting. They are: Officer Hector Luevano, Officer David Crawford, Officer Matt Jirinzu and Officer Sebastian Gomez. Review and approve / disapprove the May Meeting Minutes The April Meeting Minutes were sent out via by Laurie Hancock. A motion to approve these minutes was made and seconded. There was no discussion. The motion was unanimously approved. Review and approve / disapprove the May Financial Statement The May Financial Statement was sent out via by Brenda Hester. A motion to approve the financial statement was made and seconded. There was no discussion. The motion was unanimously approved.

2 Speaker Jaime Correa, from Lonestar Handgun Range, spoke to us. He formerly was in the Army - Law Enforcement. He spoke to us about handguns from the civilian point of view. He gave us a great deal of tips on the usages of open and concealed carry. Jaime also stressed many the legal matters that would be encountered after a shooting. The members thanked Jaime for the information. Old Business Gun Raffle Tom Ingle reported that raffle tickets totaling close to $7000 have been sold. There are three more weeks in which to sell the rest of the tickets. Gary Reichle and Dan Hancock have helped sell tickets. Other volunteers are very welcome. Business Memberships Tom Ingle stated that the letters asking businesses to support the UCPD through the Alumni have resulted in about $2000 in donations so far Citizens Police Academy Class The graduation dinner for the 2018 Citizens Police Academy was at Dragon Lake restaurant. A good time was had by all. Several officers were in attendance. UCPD Support Blue ribbons on trees and free dinners for the whole month of May for officers and their families were just two of the ways that the members showed their appreciation, especially during National Police Week. The police expressed their appreciation.

3 UCCPAAA Items for Sale Mary Flack showed the members some of the items that can be purchased through her. She showed shirts that were available to buy. There are also other items that can be obtained. See list at end of the minutes. Payment in the form of credit card has been approved for the above items, as well as dues and gun raffle tickets. For cold weather clothing, you can go online to Lands End and click on the school catalog and then look for the adult sizes. Our green color is Evergreen in the school catalog. Right now, items are on sale. After purchase, contact Mary for embroidery. You can also purchase something at a local store that is evergreen in color and contact Mary for embroidery on these items as well. See Mary at the meeting for your free lanyard for your name badge. Project Leader Helpers Our programs need coordinators and volunteers to help them. Safety Patrol and Children s Fingerprinting need coordinators. Buying Snacks also needs volunteers. Other Old Business Paul Najarian explained the duties of the Safety Patrol. Mainly, it is to augment the police at citysponsored events. New Business Veterans Day Parade Doug Smith, program director for the parade, gave us an overview of times, activities that need volunteers, etc. Participants should be on UC Boulevard across from the Fire Department at 10:00. He needs: Three volunteers to drive their vehicles in the parade Safety officers to direct traffic Marchers to distribute mini flags and perhaps candy UCCPAAA banner carriers Vehicle decorators He will be sending around a sign-up sheet.

4 Other New Business Tom Ingle reported that telephone calls that come in for UCCPAAA don t have to be monitored in person anymore. He has set it up so that calls will go to our website and they will be forwarded to the appropriate person. Dan Hancock will be sending out a new roster to include new members. Carole Meyer asked for volunteers to help with National Night Out(NNO). It will be held on Oct. 2. Members are needed to: Work on banners Take NNO information to apartment managers Safety Patrol Children s Finger printers Take care of goodies for the kids at the Kick-off, which is Sept. 29 She encouraged everyone to participate in NNO with snacks, etc. for the neighbors. The Kick-off will be a UC Park. There will be an Air-Life helicopter, along with other emergency vehicles. Tell all your neighbors! Police Report Sergeant Dan Carmona Sergeant Carmona gave us interesting details on the following: Injury to a child Rape case Runaways Drugs HEB issues Walmart issues There was a question and answer period. The members thanked Dan. Next Meeting The next meeting will be on July 18, 2018 at the Public Works building. Adjournment At 8:14 PM, a motion to adjourn was made and seconded.
