3 Message from the Chief In an effort to foster transparency and keep the community informed, I am pleased to present the 2018 Tolleson Police Department Annual Report. The Tolleson Police Department continues to work hard to provide a safe and healthy environment for all of those who live, work, visit and share their life with family and friends in the City of Tolleson. Our focus this past year has been the use of data to provide directive patrol and identify areas within the city that require more of a Police presence to reduce and control crime. Technology continues to be a priority within the department to improve Efficiency and Performance. The implementation of Body Worn Cameras, Digital Citations and Crash Reports was a major step in that direction. It is a personal Honor for me to work alongside the dedicated men and women of the Tolleson Police Department as we strive to provide the best Pubic Safety Services for all those we serve. Each Call for Service is assigned an Incident Number and logged into the Computer Aided Dispatch, or CAD.

10 Communications A call for service generally refers to any call requiring action by the police department. A call for service can be initiated by the public or a police officer on patrol. Each Call for Service is assigned an Incident Number and logged into the Computer Aided Dispatch, or CAD. In January 2017 the Tolleson Communication center began dispatching for three different agencies and receives several calls every day. In 2017 there were 48,171 calls for service and 2018 there were a total of 53,183 calls for service. Calls for service increased 10.4% over previous year (up 5,061 calls over last year) Page 8

12 Uniform Crime Reports (UCR) Arizona participates in the FBI Uniform Crime Report Program/NIBRS which gathers offense data for violent and property crimes. In May 2018 this position was split into two separate positions through a reorganization in the Support Service Division. From May 2017 through the end of 2017 we received 85 code calls. 16 Giving Back Explorer Post Law Enforcement Career Exploring also known as Law Enforcement Explorers is a hands-on program open to young men and women who meet qualifying age requirements and are interested in a career in law enforcement or a related field in the criminal justice system. Keeping Our Partners in Public Safety Safe Body armor is not just for police anymore. Tolleson PD presented the Fire Department with active shooter kits for all of our firefighters. Page 14

19 Law Enforcement Torch Run The Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) is a campaign for Special Olympics. LETR is run by police officers, sheriff's deputies, correction officers, support staff, police volunteers and other law enforcement personnel from around the world. Close to 97,000 police professionals in over 45 countries participate in this worldwide effort to raise money and awareness for Special Olympics. The pictures show our officer accepting the torch from a neighboring agency. Page 17
