Thank you to all who made our Na)onal Commander s visit a genera)onal highlight for our Post, the membership outreach at Carillon more successful than I ever could have imagined, and thank you for the inspiring turnout and great posi)ve energy that made Poppy Days, the Run for Brave 5K, decora)ng veteran s graves at the Plainfield cemeteries, and of course the Memorial Day parade and ceremony at Se6ler s Park moving and meaningful events for our community. I could not be more proud. Speaking of blowing me away, look at this message I received from Department following Commander Rohan s visit, your Post was one of the top 5 Posts in the na+on that the Na+onal Commander has visited. Let s con)nue to work together, suppor)ng each other all four elements of our Post Family united for success. This month at our membership mee)ng we have the privilege and duty to vote in new officers for next year. There will definitely be some new faces in different posi)ons including in the Commander s posi)on. It has been quite an honor for me to lead this group for the last two years and I know that success will con)nue for this group. But for that to happen, we must remain engaged. There are a few posi)ons like Senior and Junior Vice Commander that I am not aware that someone has expressed interest in. Please come to our monthly mee)ng ready to be engaged. We will not succeed if we do not fill these vital posi)ons. Every one of our members has led on some level during their )me in the military. You will have great support from those who have gone before you and served as a Post Officer. We will not let you fail. One Team One Fight, Greg 1

Remember to keep our active duty military in your prayers for a safe return home. June 25th, 1950: Korean War Began June 27th 1947: Your Chaplains birthday June 30, 2008: Post 911 GI Bill signed into Law John Thompson - Chaplain Service Officer s Report: I presented Marne Post Americanism Awards to students Logan Greiske and Caitlyn Miller at Timber Ridge Middle School on May 23. I was impressed by the school's diversity and the patriotism shown by students and faculty. There is a new and more effective Shingles vaccine. It's name is Shingrix. I checked with the Joliet CBOC and was told it was on hand but not to be dispensed yet. As of May 25, I had not received confirmation from a Nurse. Tom Mlynek - Service Officer 2

3 Auxiliary Officers WOW, glad May is almost over! It's been busy! I hope you had a chance to come to the Post for the Na)onal Commander visit. She truly enjoyed herself and appreciated all the a6en)on. Thanks to all the Aux members that helped decorate, bake, man the dessert table and the t-shirt table. Your help was greatly appreciated. We are sending a girl to Girls State from the Aurora unit. Many thanks to our chairman, Sharon Levally for all the work she did to inform our high schools and home school community. Chairman Carol Benne6 and ass't Melissa Richardson managed our Poppy Day on May 19. Thanks to their dedica)on and to all the members that collected money for our veterans. *** The Auxiliary is hos)ng the June 12th dinner for the post *** Bring your favorite salad to share or a dessert. The rest will be catered. Hope to see you there. As you know, VP and secretary, Carol Benne6, will step down from her post next year. 4 Riders Officers Hello Riders, as you know the national commanders visit was a huge success thanks to the effort, in part, of our organization. Job well done!! Next we would like to thank those riders that endured the extreme heat and participated in the 5K run ceremony and the memorial day parade. It's your dedication to our post that makes the Marne post 13 great. July 21st is right around the corner which will be our inaugural charity event, and we are hoping for a great turn out. 6 National Commander s Visit Commander Rohan s visit was a Great success. A large crowd of Veterans and members of the Community welcomed her to Marne Post 13 We heard essays from local grade school students Tom Mlynek handed out Americanism awards to Logan Greiske and Caitlin Miller at Timber Ridge Middle School The Memorial Day Parade was a great success. 6
