Through a series of annual events and initiatives, we are able to fund and support the MPD youth and community outreach initiatives, as well as support unmet needs of the Chief of Police and his team. 3 Chief Events Evening with the Chief & Breakfast with the Chief Please join the Foundation and MPD for these two rare opportunities for up close and personal conversations and interactions with our very own Police Chief. These discussions touch on current, relevant issues that affect every individual and entity in the district. Your sponsorship allows the Foundation to continue to successfully run special events and programs throughout the year. Beyond the Badge Please join the Foundation as we take a look at the individuals that make up the DC police. The MPD has been sharing a Beyond the Badge series, showcasing the many talents, hobbies and personalities of their officers. Listen to officers and command staff, as they discuss what motivates them not only at work, but at home and in their free time. Women in Blue Please join the Foundation as they interview a panel of females in law enforcement. The annual event allows guests to listen to the stories of women from different ranks and units throughout the Metropolitan Police Department. Learn more about what first sparked their interest in law enforcement, their story of growth throughout their time with the MPD, as well as their opinions on work-life balance. With a department that is 23% women, it is important to learn more about the women who thrive in the male dominated world of policing. 4 14 th Annual Awards Ceremony The DC Police Foundation s Annual Awards Ceremony offers the Foundation and the various members of the District of Columbia community the opportunity to thank and honor the outstanding police officers for all of their unparalleled work and dedication. The ceremony also honors a stellar civilian member of the department and a business partner that has been an integral part of the Foundation throughout the past year. This is an opportunity for the law enforcement and business communities of the District to network and celebrate together. 5 Cadet Cares Initiative Make a difference in the lives of DC youth. Support the pilot of the Cadet Cares Initiative. As a part of this initiative, sponsors will have the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of our amazing Junior Cadet 5 th graders. The Junior Cadet Program is designed to: improve students school performance, behavior and attendance; encourage positive attitude toward law enforcement and help students gain a positive self-image. To do this, School Resource Officers work with a class of 5 th grade students from the most challenging neighborhoods on curriculum, as well as take students on excursions throughout the year. With two sponsorship options available, please consider sponsoring one Junior Cadet field trip, or one Junior Cadet.
