2 2 ITED Mission ATEC established the Integrated Test & Evaluation Directorate (ITED) to plan, coordinate, and conduct integrated operational tests, experiments and rapid acquisition initiative assessments in support of network integration and other priority Army systems. ITED maintains close ties with the Brigade Modernization Command and System of systems Integration (SOSI) to plan, coordinate, and execute operational testing in a network-centric operational environment.

4 4 Network Integration Evaluation (NIE) What is the NIE? a series of semi-annual evaluations designed to integrate and mature the Army s tactical network by placing a large number of emerging systems with Soldiers in operational scenarios. What will NIE allow us to do? Demonstrate Interoperability Early develop a single battlefield network able to push information to our Soldiers and link them to command posts, vehicles on-the-move and higher headquarters. It s a new way of doing business a fundamental change in how we deliver capabilities to our Soldiers

7 Today s Objective My goal is to: Provide a warfighter viewpoint Provide Operational Test Officer experience with networks Discuss future testing requirements to support NIE Discuss emerging system of system test capabilities Seeking solutions to leverage technology in net-centric testing Let not a Soldier s Soul cry out, was my equipment tested?? 7
