In accordance with your concurrence on our suggested design for Paramount High Schools shoulder loop insignia (SLI), a letter authorizing its wear is enclosed (encl l). 2. The following are also enclosed for your use: a. SLI manufacturing drawing with black and white line drawing color guide (encls 2-4). b. Information sheets on procurement and manufacturers (encls 5 & 6). 3. To ensure that your insignia are manufactured according to regulation, please select manufacturers from the certified list at enclosure 6. You should provide a copy of the manufacturing drawing to each manufacturer from whom you are requesting a bid on the development and production of the insignia. 4. In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 7-12, AR 145-2, a shoulder loop insignia (SLI) is authorized for wear by the JROTC cadets attending Paramount High School. The description and symbolism of the design are as follows: DESCRIPTION On a shield shaped silver metal and epoxied device 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Sanguine, two swords in saltire, points to base, overall a pirate s head affrontée, erased at neck, all Or (Transparent Gold). Attached below the shield, a Maroon tri-parted scroll inscribed H, PARAMOUNT PIRATES, and S, all in Silver. SYMBOLISM Maroon and white are the school colors. The school s mascot is the pirate - after careful consideration, school officials decided to choose Pirates to battle their rival, Bellflower High School, whose mascot is the Buccaneers. The crossed swords denote readiness. CHIPS NUMBERS Red #6, Transparent Gold #36 2. This authorization letter will become a part of this Institute's organizational files for your school.
