The Eagle Court of Honor Directions: This is the script for the Eagle Court of Honor. Fill in all the blanks with the appropriate names of the individual who will be performing that particular task. Once you have filled out all the blanks you can format it to the various pages and pass out the pages with their script to the appropriate presenter. Some families have ed the presentation to presenters, then each presenter can add in their remarks and enlarge it to whatever size works best for them. You will need: Blue Candles for the Passing of the Eagle Flame (enough for each Life scout in the troop and any other Life Scouts from other troops) White Candles for the Trail to Eagle. (#?) Something to light the candles with. The best so far has been those Scripto lighters. Matches have a tendency to burn fingers, especially if it is windy, and blow out before the candle is lite. Permanent makers to sign the flag. Usually Blue, Red and Black. The Troop Flags from the Elk s Club. Arrange to get these from the Scout Master or have the Senior Patrol Leader bring them. You will need the Eagle Candle Holder from the Shed. The Troop supplies: The banner to be put out for signing The Eagle Scarf and Neckerchief Slide The Eagle Plaque The Eagle Hardware and Certificate (this is supplied by Council and usually received by the Scout prior to the Court of Honor, but is presented at the Court of Honor) You will also find on the website the templates for the Program and Invitation. I hope these files are helpful in planning your Eagle Court of Honor and help facilitate the planning for this wonderful event. Now Enjoy!

1. CALL TO ORDER My name is. I call this meeting of Troop 101 scouts, parents, and friends to order. I would like to introduce Senior Patrol Leader for the Presentation of the Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance. 2. PRESENTATION OF COLORS, PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, AND SCOUT OATH Presentation of Colors: Color Guard: Pledge of Allegiance: Joe Scout Sam Scout, Tom Scout, Robert Scout, and Tim Scout Joe Scout And now I would like to call on to lead us in the Scout Oath. Scout Oath: Mike Scout 3. WELCOME As the Troop Committee Chair of Troop 101, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all of you here today. It is my extreme pleasure to be honoring as they complete the road to Eagle. In order to give you a brief background of the difficult journey faced, I am impressed by a statistic I recently read that stated that only one in four boys in America will become a Boy Scout, and that of one hundred boys who become scouts, only four will reach the rank of Eagle. It is also interesting to know that of the leaders of this nation in business, religion, and politics; three out of four were scouts. We welcome all of you who are here to day to share in s accomplishments. I would like to introduce and, who will introduce some of our honored guests here today. 4. INTRODUCTION OF HONORED GUESTS 5. RECOGNITION BY MARIN COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS Honorable Harold C. Brown, Marin County Board of Supervisors 6. OPENING OF COURT OF HONOR I officially open this Court of Honor for. And now I would like to introduce, who will recognize all of the Eagle Scouts here today.

7. RECOGNITION OF EAGLES I would like to invite all Eagle Scouts, including adults, to come to the front of the room. I would like you to stand from oldest Eagle Scout to youngest Eagle Scout and light the candle and pass the flame down to the newest Eagle Scouts. And as you pass the flame, please state your name, when you became an Eagle Scout, the troop you were a member of, and the location of the troop. 8. TRAIL OF THE EAGLE The voice of the Eagle, the Eagle whose heights struggled hard to reach speaks to all scouts when a candidate is presented for Eagle Award. We remember when you first came to the start of scouting and how you looked up the Scouting Trail with ambition and determination. Look back for a moment, look back over the trail you have climbed; look back at the experience you have encountered in your ascent. These experiences should not be forgotten. Experience is a valuable teacher if you will heed its teachings. We remember when you took your first step upon the trail that leads upward: joined Troop 101 on. 1. With your first step, you began to start living the Scout Oath and Law. All the while you were on the trail, we watched you study and then we saw you learn, by doing. First, you became a Scout (Light Candle), building yourself physically, mentally, and morally. 2. You then became a Tenderfoot Scout; all of your brother Scouts called you a tenderfoot. (Light Candle) became a tenderfoot scout on. 3. To reach the rank of Second Class, a scout learns to work with members of the Patrol, and he begins to develop a patrol spirit. (Light Candle) became a Second Class Scout on. 4. You began to study more, work harder, and almost before you knew it, you became the rank of a First Class Scout. When a scout reaches the rank of first class in Troop 101, he is really first class. He is an expert in the outdoor skills of camping, cooking, hiking, and first aid. (Light candle) became a First Class Scout on. 5. Yes, you could have remained there to live First Class glory, but your ambition stirred you on. We next remember your progress when you became a Star Scout. A Star Scout learns to work with the younger scouts in the troop, passing the knowledge he has gained onto the others. (Light candle) became a Star Scout on. 6. Again you climbed farther. Now the trail towards Eagle was steeper and fewer Scouts seemed to be headed in your direction. The same determination with which you started your climb led you to become a Life Scout. A Life Scout, the heart badge,

was placed on your uniform understanding the original principles of scouting, the Scout Oath and Law. (Light candle) became a Life Scout on. 7. The rank of Eagle Scout is the highest award. The Eagle Scout must earn the specific number of merit badges and must plan, develop, and carry out an extensive service project, giving leadership to others: s Eagle project involved. An Eagle candidate must also serve as a troop officer for a specified time: served as. To become an Eagle Scout, you must earn 21 merit badges, including 15 required merit badges: earned merit badges. ( attended Philmont or other extended summer outings, such as Boundary Waters. Fill this out as needed.) We have watched your characters unfold and you become mature; we have seen your understanding of citizenship expand; we have watched your wisdom increase; and we have observed you leadership grow into valuable assets. Now you are at the threshold of your goal. We welcome you to the rank of Eagle Scout. (Light candle) 9. PLEDGE OF THE EAGLE I,, reaffirm my allegiance to the four promises of the Scout Oath. I thoughtfully recognize and take upon myself the highest responsibility and duty of the rank of Eagle Scout. On my honor, I will do my best to live my live with honor (light the first candle), loyalty (light the second candle), and courage (light the third candle). The habit of a daily Good Turn must take on a new meaning and blossom forth in a life of service to my troop, my community, and in my contacts with people always. I would like to introduce, who will make the presentation of the Eagle award. 10. PRESENTATION OF THE EAGLE AWARD (Any comments of the presenter.) Will the Eagle parents please come to the front? Fellow Eagle Scouts, we now proclaim to all who are gathered here today and those who will be influenced by your future deeds and accomplishments. The symbol of your success is the Eagle Badge and neckerchief, which I will now present to your parents. Your parents will in turn pin the badge over your heart and place the neckerchief around your neck. (Presentation of badge and neckerchief)

Eagle Scouts, in recognition of the wisdom and guidance given to you by your father, will you please present them with the Eagle tie bar. (Presentation of the tie bar) And now in recognition of the many countless hours of patient guidance given by her in your efforts, will you pin the Eagle mother s pin over your mother s heart. (Presentation of pin) I would like to introduce, who will give the Scoutmaster comments. 11. SCOUTMASTER S COMMENTS I would now like to introduce, who will read some letters of congratulations to. 12. LETTERS And now I would like to introduce, who will explain the challenge and charge for each new Eagle Scout. 13. EAGLE SCOUT CHALLENGE AND CHARGE A tradition in Troop 101 is to challenge each scout as he advances to improve himself and the troop in some specific way. It is particularly fitting that the troop continue this tradition at an Eagle Scout Court of Honor because receiving an Eagle Scout award is the highest award that a scout can achieve and it may be the last time that the troop has the opportunity, and at this time, the pleasure, of challenging a scout before he completes his scouting career. And so, I challenge and charge to. And now, I would like to introduce Eagle Scout, who will give his Eagle response. 14. EAGLE RESPONSES 15. FRIEND OF THE FAMILY And now, I would like to introduce from the Elk s Club, who would like to say a few words. And I would like to thank and the Elk s Club for all the great support that the Elk s Club has provided as the Troop 101 sponsor. 16. PRESENTATION BY TROOP 101 Presenter makes comments about Troop 101 s history, purpose, and traditions and presents new Eagle Scouts with banners and plaques.

And now I would like to call on our new Eagle Scouts,, for the passing of the Eagle Scout flame. 17. PASSING OF EAGLE SCOUT FLAME. Would all the current Life Scouts of Troop 101 please rise and come forward. (Give each Life Scout a blue candle and light theirs with your Eagle candle.) This flame represents your challenge to complete your advancement. May you one day stand before us to receive your Eagle Badge. I would like to call on for the closing of this Eagle Scout Court of Honor. 18. CLOSING OF THE COURT OF HONOR This Eagle Court of Honor stands adjourned. After the retiring of the colors by the Troop 101 Color Guard, you are invited to remain for the reception for Eagle Scouts. I would like to call upon Senior Patrol Leader for the retiring of the colors. 19. RETIRING OF THE COLORS
