In accordance with the approved suggested designs and with the provisions of paragraph 7-12, AR 145-2, the following insignia is authorized for Mililani High School: a. Shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) with description and symbolism as follows: DESCRIPTION On a brown embroidered disc the head of a brown Trojan facing right, face and helmet details all golden yellow; all within a golden yellow designation band edged with an 1/8 inch (.32 cm) brown border and inscribed MILILANI HIGH SCHOOL above and TROJANS below, all in brown. Overall diameter is 3 1/2 inches (8.89 cm). SYMBOLISM Brown and gold are the school colors. Brown denotes the Mililani landscape and gold symbolizes brilliant sunshine. The Trojan Battalion embodies the warrior spirit of the school s mascot. Shoulder loop insignia (SLI) with description and symbolism as follows: DESCRIPTION On a shield shaped gold metal and epoxied device 1 1/4 inches (3.18 cm) in height blazoned as follows: Brün, a sword bendwise point up Or, between a representation of the Hawaiian islands Vert and a Trojans head facing sinister of the second. Attached beneath the shield, a green scroll inscribed TROJAN BATTALION in gold.

2 AAMH-IHS SUBJECT: Insignia for Mililani High School, JROTC SYMBOLISM Brown and gold are the school colors. Brown represents the landscape of Mililani, Hawaii, and gold denotes the everlasting sunshine. The Trojan is the school s mascot and symbolizes the warrior spirit. The sword is a symbol of strength and is colored gold for excellence. The Hawaiian Islands are colored green to denote the youth and energy of the Trojan Battalion. SSI manufacturing drawing (A-10A-1240) with black and white line drawing, universal camouflage pattern and operational camouflage pattern. 3. To ensure that insignia is manufactured IAW AR 672-8, please select manufacturers from The Institute of Heraldry s certified list. You will be required to provide one copy of the manufacturing drawing to each manufacturer from whom you are requesting a development bid and production of your insignia. 4. When you are in receipt of your insignia, please forward one color and one subdued sample of the SSI and one sample of the SLI to this Institute for our records. 5. This authorization letter will become a part of this Institute s organizational files for your school. A copy of this letter should also be retained in your school s permanent ROTC files.
