In accordance with your concurrence on our suggested design for Wagener-Salley High School shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI), a letter authorizing its wear is enclosed (Encl l). 2. The following are also enclosed for your use: a. SSI manufacturing drawing (A-10S-1224) with black and white line drawing, ACU, color and subdued version (Encls 2-3). b. Information sheets on procurement and manufacturers (Encls 4 & 5). 3. To ensure that your insignia are manufactured according to regulation, please select manufacturers from the certified list at enclosure 5. You should provide a copy of the manufacturing drawing (Encls 2-3) to each manufacturer you request to bid on the development and production of the insignia. 4. When the insignia have been received by your school, please forward one color sample and one subdued sample of the SSI to this Institute for our files. Encls as CHARLES V. In accordance with the provisions of paragraph 7-12, AR 145-2, a shoulder sleeve insignia is authorized for wear by the JROTC cadets assigned to Wagener-Salley High School. The description and symbolism of the design are as follows: DESCRIPTION On a shield shaped embroidered device edged with a 1/8 inch (.32cm) Scarlet border blazoned as follows: Azure, a fusil fesswise Argent, edged Gules, overall a stylized eagle s head erased to sinister of the second, fimbriated and detailed of the first. Attached above the rectangle, a Blue scroll edged with a 1/8 inch (.32 cm) Scarlet border inscribed WAR EAGLES in White letters. The overall dimensions are 3 1/16 inches (7.78 cm) in height by 2 5/8 inches (6.67 cm) width. SYMBOLISM Red, white and blue are the school colors. Blue signifies allegiance of the school district to combine two schools of diverse background, denoting one Nation of Americans. The eagle is the school s mascot, alluding to patriotic Americans learning together.
