6 SHEP: We Can t Wait o President declared Savannah Harbor Expansion Project (SHEP) one of five We Can t Wait projects in July 2012 o Project is environmentally sustainable Mitigation accounts for nearly half project cost o Unique Approval Process: Environmental Mitigation approved by: USACE EPA DOI DOC 6

The partnership is collaborating to reconnect distressed communities with a revitalized urban waterway.

11 Installation Support Examples in GA Fort Benning USACE Sustainability Award Winner (Building the Future Award) - Dept of the Army s largest LEED Gold renovation project. - Produce $450K/yr in energy savings - 75% of demolition debris was recycled - 30,000 gallon cisterns to capture and store rainwater. 2. Project also nominated for the White House Green Gov Presidential Award Maneuver Center of Excellence Fort Gordon Ground Source Heat Transfer System 1. Savannah District providing complete design and construction services for Ground Source Heat Transfer System project at Ft. Gordon (PA $12.2 million) wells, each at 250 deep, with a minimum cooling capacity of 450 tons. 3. The well Xield will support the FY14 AIT Barracks/ COF as well as the future FY16 AIT Barracks/COF and the FY16 AIT Battalion HQ

13 DoD Energy Intensity - The Army reduced its energy intensity by 14.2% in FY13 from its FY 2003 baseline, falling short of the 24% goal. - The contributing factors to the Army not reducing energy consumption further in FY 2013 included increased energy demand due to returning soldiers from theater, increasing process loads at industrial facilities, and delayed appropriations in prior fiscal years.
