COMMISSIONER ACTION IS SHOWN IN CAPS AFTER EACH ITEM Commissioner Johnson called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. PUBLIC SESSION 1. Public Presentations A representative for Richard Papst addressed the Commission on behalf of his client, Arthur Norris, petition for relief. Mr. Papst requested that a letter be read into the record as he was unable to attend personally. Mr. Norris would ask that the Commission give consideration to hearing his request to reclassify his time away from county service as an unpaid leave of absence rather than as a resignation and rehire. Mr. Papst asked that the Commission set aside time to hear the petition so Mr. Norris can have some due process consideration of his petition and request. Any person whose matter is on this agenda and would like that matter heard in closed session, is to notify the Commission when your matter is called. 8. Request from Ron Sergi, General Counsel for California Organization of Police and Sheriff s, to reschedule hearing date(s) in the matter of the disciplinary action by the Kern County Sheriff s Office of his client, name redacted, from the position as a Detentions Deputy. This matter was previously scheduled for hearing dates of May 29, 30 & 31, DENIED with caveat; Th/Pa; All ayes County Counsel stated the department remains available to proceed. There has been no contact from Mr. Sergi. Due to the length of time this matter has been pending, the Commission made the motion to remove the matter from the agenda until such time either party makes a request to reschedule hearing dates.

4 Page 4 Additionally, Commission again orders that in the event Detentions Deputy, name redacted, ultimately prevails and is restored to her position, there will not be an award of back pay. 9. Request from Edward Nance, Representative from SEIU, Local 521, for an appeal hearing in the matter of the termination of his client, (name redacted), from his position as Security Officer I with Department of Airports. Request from ELIZABETH GIBSON for personal necessity leave of absence from her position as Office Services Technician for the Kern County Probation Department.
