6 US Vets plays a key role in the process of veterans going from homeless to being in their own apartment, in good shape, often with jobs. Any work we do for them helps the homeless veterans, directly or indirectly The container organizing work is completed until the Fall Many thanks to all of the club members who supported this, especially Bob Henry, Paul Bernard and Jack Dreyfus. Starting 14 July we take on the painting of air conditioned rooms at the GVV. Two (2) crews, each with one club member and 2 from Luke AFB. For 14 July, Richard Brown and Paul Bernard, and working on Luke, 2 so far. We anticipate doing this every 6 weeks, or so. This will be the 10 th mission this year

7 Statistics: 1 January 2018 Present (Emerging Missions) VOC Lunches: 5 missions, 13 man days of Luke support Adopt-a-Street: 5 missions, 9 man days of Luke support. (3 Vols for May but missed the date change) US Vets: 9 missions, 33 man days of Luke support NOTE: 18 more Luke personnel are scheduled in June and July for a variety of missions. Since August, 2015 thru today, we ve benefitted from 1168 man days of Luke support. This translates to an average of 1.2 Luke man days of help EVERY DAY since Aug of 2015.

10 Liability while volunteering Contacted HOA and their attorney. Their attorney has advised that the HOA isn t necessarily liable on any accident, whether it is on HOA property or off-site. 12 He had a really rough month in chemo all while hospitalized. Some nasty side effects which are still clearing up. Blood work looked good and clear of the blasts for now. He is going to take some time to see his kids and grandchildren and decide on what s next after that. There are still options to explore. He said he is not hedging, just wants to be with family for now. He appreciated all the positive thoughts and prayers from the veterans club. Now a member of the club

17 Idea came from text conversation with Jim Long and an from Joe Giordano Board would approve the mission, then take to membership for approval President sent to HQ (Prescott) on May 14 th, asking for information on how our club might be able to support Honor Flight..

18 1. Fundraiser to send a veteran (veterans) on an Honor Flight trip. This may include a veteran from within your organization from the WWII, Korean War or Vietnam War eras. 2. Write letters or cards of appreciation to veterans who will be traveling on a specific trip. This is VERY personal to the veterans even when received from someone new to them. 3. Host an information event about Honor Flight Arizona for your veterans (in club) and those in the local area. We will come out and make a presentation along with Q&A for those interested in flying with us. 4. Attend an Honor Flight trip homecoming ceremony at PHX. We can coordinate with any other veteran or patriotic groups for that flying season (spring or fall) to ensure manageable numbers in attendance. PHX is limited in our group space available. 19 Experience a half-size replica of the Washington, DC Vietnam Veterans Memorial when The Moving Wall comes to Surprise this summer. The replica wall was created so that people who cannot travel to DC, can still share in this special way of honoring and remembering the sacrifice of our Vietnam service members. The wall is engraved with more than 58,000 names of killed or missing Vietnam service men and women. The city of Surprise is honored to host The Moving Wall from July 5 9 at Mark Coronado Park, located at N Bullard Ave. July 5, 9:00 a.m. The Moving Wall Opens to Public July 6, 6:00 a.m. Welcome Ceremony July 9, 6:00 a.m. Closing Ceremony July 9, 12:00 p.m. The Moving Wall Closes The Moving Wall will be open 24 hours for viewing from July 5 at 9 a.m. July 9 at noon. Directory books will be available 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. This event is free to the public. The city is seeking volunteers (individuals and groups) for assistance with assembly and disassembly of the wall, staffing the information and directory tables and more.
