14 Good to know about DAAD scholarships v Internationals have to apply for DAAD Scholarships in their home country. v Application procedures may vary for different programmes v Please check the database for details: Applicants who have been resident in Germany for longer than 15 months at the time of application cannot be considered. 14

15 Study Scholarships for Graduates of All Disciplines v Funding for one year or full Master's degree programme completed at a state or state-recognised university in Germany. v Who can apply? Excellently-qualified graduates who have completed a first degree (Bachelor, Diplom or comparable academic degree). v Duration: between 10 and 24 months depending on the length of the chosen study programme. v Value: 750 euros per month and additional allowances (health insurance, ).

16 Research Grants One-Year and Short-Term Grants v In Brief: The primary aim of this programme is to promote research projects within the context of doctoral programmes. v Who can apply? Excellently qualified graduates who have completed a Master s degree or Diplom or those who have already completed a PhD (postdocs). v Duration: 7 months to usually 10 months (One-Year Grants), 1 month to a maximum of 6 months (Short-Term Grants) v Value: 750 to 1,000 euros per month (depending on academic level) plus additional allowances

17 Research Grants - Doctoral Programmes in Germany v Funding for a doctoral project (individually or in a structured programme) at a state or state-recognised German university or non-university research institution. v Who can apply? Excellently qualified graduates who have completed a Master s degree or Diplom. v Duration: Up to 3 years, in exceptional cases up to 4 years. v Value: 750 to 1,000 euros per month (depending on qualification level) and additional allowances (health insurance, )

18 Research Grants - Doctoral Programmes in Germany DAAD/Becas cofunded by CONICYT v Funding for a doctoral project (individually or in a structured programme) at a state or state-recognised German university or non-university research institution. v Who can apply? Excellently qualified graduates who have completed a Master s degree or Diplom. v Duration: 4 years. n Value: Intensive German course in Germany up to 6 months, including accommodation and cost of living during this period; Costs for outward and return travel; monthly scholarship payments up to the maximum amount determined by CONICYT; health insurance

19 Research Grants - Cotutelle v Funding for research periods at a state or state-recognised university in Germany for the purpose of writing a doctoral thesis, which is supervised and completed in two countries (cotutelle procedure). v Who can apply? Excellently-qualified doctoral candidates and graduates who have admission to a doctoral programme at the time they begin their grant-supported research. v Duration: Up to 18 months. v Value: 1,000 euros per month and additional allowances (health insurance, )

20 Research Grants Bi-nationally Supervised Doctoral Degrees v In Brief: The aim of this programme is to promote doctoral degrees at the home university with integrated research phases in Germany. v Who can apply? Excellently qualified graduates who have completed a Master s degree or Diplom. v Duration: Up to 2 years (during stays at the home university, the grant is interrupted). v Value: 1,000 euros per month during the stay in Germany and additional allowances (health insurance, travel expenses for academic advisers)

21 Research Stays for University Academics and Scientists v In Brief: The aim is to support short-term research stays at a state-run or state-recognised higher education institution or non-university research institute. v Who can apply? Excellently qualified scientists with a doctorate. All applicants must work in a higher education institution or research institute in their home country. v Duration: 1 to 3 months. v Value: 2,000 to 2,150 euros per month (depending on academic status).

22 Postdoctoral Researchers International Mobility Experience (P.R.I.M.E.) v In Brief: New programme co-financed by the DAAD and the Marie Curie Programme of the European Commission v Who can apply? Outstanding postdoctoral researchers from all disciplines and nationalities v Duration: 18 months, in which 12 months have to be spent abroad and 6 months (re-integration phase) at a German university v Value: salary based on the German pay scale for the public sector, approx. 3,500-4,500 euros per month pre-tax v The next call for applications will be published in the first half of The next funding period will be in

26 Bilateral Exchange of Academics v In Brief: Supports research or study visits within the scope of the bilateral exchange of scientists and scholars between Germany and its partner countries. Lecture tours and conference attendance cannot be supported. v Who can apply? Researchers with a doctorate who are working in countries abroad with which an appropriate bilateral agreement has been signed v Duration: 2 weeks to 3 months v Value: 2,000 to 2,150 euros per month, depending on academic status. Travel expenses must be borne by the respective sending country. v For country-specific information check

27 Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowships v In Brief: Outstanding, recently qualified international junior researchers can conduct research at one of the 89 institutes of the Leibniz Association in Germany. v Who can apply? Excellent, recently qualified international postdocs/junior researchers (no more than 2 years should have passed since completing their doctorate). v Duration: Up to maximum of 12 months. v Value: 2,000 euros a month, a research allowance of 460 euros per annum, insurance coverage, and a 2-month German language course (if desired) v The next call for the Leibniz-DAAD Research Fellowships will be announced at the beginning of January 2017 on

28 Research Fellowships in Space, Aeronautics, Energy and Transportation Research v In Brief: Outstanding scientists and researchers have the opportunity to conduct special research at the institutes of the German Aerospace Center (DLR) in Germany. v Who can apply? Highly qualified foreign PhD students, postdoctoral researchers and senior researchers. v Duration: 36 months for PhD students; 6 to 24 months for postdoctoral researchers; 1 to 3 months for senior scientists. v Value: PhD Students: 1,365 euros per month plus additional payments; Postdocs: 2,000 euros per month; senior scientists 2,300 euros per month v Current offers published under
