Once again we will be recognizing faculty members at the ALL FACULTY DAY in September. Up to five full-time faculty members will be honored by the College, and each will receive an engraved plaque and gift. The selection committee will be meeting in the near future, so please have all nomination forms and supporting materials to Mike Toomey by June 30, If possible, kindly send your submission to Mike via interoffice mail. His office is in the Health Science Bldg., c/o Main Academic South (MAS) 103. 2 24th ANNUAL OUTSTANDING COLLEAGUE AWARD 1. Purpose: The award is intended to provide a means for recognizing and rewarding outstanding faculty members who have: Demonstrated exceptional behavior that has had a positive effect on students Shown outstanding personal professional growth Provided invaluable assistance to other faculty members Been actively involved in community activities directly related to Brookdale Community College for the current academic year 1. Eligibility: All full-time faculty who are tenured are eligible for nomination for this award. Note: There may be an exception for a non-tenured faculty member who is strongly supported by his or her peers. 2. Selection Procedure: The selection committee will be composed of the Outstanding Colleague recipients from the prior academic year. They will review the nominations and anonymously make their selections. The five faculty with the most votes will be this year s Outstanding Colleagues. The awards will be based on criteria such as excellence in teaching and college service as well as the number of years of employment at Brookdale. The recipients for will not have to be distributed evenly among the academic college divisions, nor will five awards be mandatory. There can be more than one recipient from a division. There will be a faculty information packet prepared which will accompany each nomination. It is recommended that all applicants submit a nomination form with supporting letters, if applicable, and any other related materials. Nominations to the committee may come from individual faculty members, staff, or administrators. The committee or an applicant can request an interview for the purpose of clarifying an application. The committee has the right to request verification of any material presented by an applicant. 3. Presentation of the award September, 2011 The honorees will be presented with a plaque and gift. For the academic year, the plague and gift will be given out on Faculty Day in September, 2011.
