24 Facts & Statistics Set up in 2007 The ERC represents 17% of the overall Horizon 2020 budget ( 13.1 billion of 77 billion) Since 2007, some 6,500 projects have been selected for funding from more than 62,000 applications ERC grantees have won prestigious prizes, including 6 Nobel Prizes

25 What are the main ERC principles? 1 researcher; 1 host institution; 1 project; 1 selection criterion: Scientific Excellence Applications can be made in any field of research, including social sciences and humanities Independent researchers from anywhere in the world, of any age and career stage can apply Research must be carried out in one of the 28 EU member states or associated countries
