If a website is listed, go directly to the address for the application. Please note the deadlines. Deadline Scholarship Name Eligibility Award Amount 2/15/2017 AFA Teens for Alzheimer's Awareness College Schol. High School senior planning to enter a 4 yr. college/university within 12 months of the scholarship deadline. Autobiography required as well as a 1,200 to 15,000 word essay about the impact Alzheimer's disease on your life. First prize is an annual $5,000 scholarship, a $2,500 scholarship awarded to 1st runner up and a $500 scholarship for the second runner up. $500 to $5,000 3/6/2017 Hood Sportsmanship Scholarship High school senors who participated in a varsity level sport, planning to further their education at a 2 or 4 year college or university. Must have earned a cumulative 3.0 GPA or higher and performed volunteer work in the community. A short essay is required. Students may apply on the Hood website as well as facebook. facebook.com/hphood $5,000 3/13/2017 Connecticut Nurserymen's Foundation, Inc. Must reside in CT, $5,000 per year renewable grant for either a two or four year program, must maintain a 3.0 GPA, majoring in the field of Horticulture. This includes, but not limited to: Ornamental Horticulture, Landscape Design, Nursery Management, Greenhouse Management. 2 3/15/2017 Delta Kappa Gamma Society International Four grants open to high school seniors pursuing a teaching degree appropriate for teacher certification in Connecticut. One grant awarded to a minority student planning a career in education, one grant awarded to a student planning to be a music teacher, one grant awarded to a student entering a teacher education program, and one grant awarded to a senior majoring in Math, Science, or Technology Education. Demonstrate leadership qualities including scholarship and community service. 500 word essay or less required-reasons for becoming a teacher. $500 to $750 3/15/2017 CT State USBC Association Open to High School seniors who are sons, daughters, grandsons, or granddaughters of a currently sanctioned member or the CT State Bowling Assoc. or be a USBC member that holds a youth membership. Must be entering an institution of higher learning in the summer or fall semester following graduation. See guidance for an application. 3/20/2017 James L. & Genevieve H. Goodwin Memorial Scholarsh Open to CT residents who are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in silviculture or forest resource management. Award based on financial need. Recipients are expected to commumicate in writing at least twice a year with the CT Forest and Park Association. 3/24/2017 Carter Cares Scholarship CT high school seniors planning to attend a four-year college or university. Applicants required to submit an essay,video, or graphic presentation encouraging classmates not to drive while using a cell phone. Open to high school seniors, current college students, and nontraditional students, unweighted 2.5 GPA or for high school students top 1/3 of class, must reside in Foundation's 64 town service area, show financial need, renewable scholarship. Apply on line. to $3,500 3/31/2017 Windham - Tolland Retired Teachers' Association High school senior attending a school in either Windham or Tolland County intending to pursue a career in education. Applications in BHS Guidance office. Essay required. 3/31/2017 Glenn Moon Scholarships High school seniors, pursuing career in teaching. Show academic achievement, financial need, character and personality, interests and educational activities. Renewable scholarship. Applications are available online only. $1,500 to $2,000 4/1/2017 Justin Wisniewski Firefighter Open to firefighters, spouse, child or sibling of a firefighter. Based on volunteerism. 4/3/2017 The Stephen Phillips Memorial Open to high school seniors and college students. Must be or will be attending a college or university on a full-time basis, have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, needs based, commitment to serve others, a strong work ethic, passion for overcoming obstacles and/or achieving future goals, and leadership qualities. This is a renewable, four year scholarship. $3,000 to $18,000 4/15/2017 American Fire Sprinkler Association Essay Scholarship competition words which address a specific topic. 4 4/30/2017 Milton Fisher Scholarship High school junior or senior and first year college students, display evidence of innovative and creative problem solving pertaining to artistic, scientific, technical, or problems faced by their school, communities, or families. Essay & recommendation required. Four-year award of up to $20,000 (up to $5,000 per year for four years). $500 to $5, /1/2017 William B.
