4 1.0 ONGC Scholarships for SC/ST Students Eligibility Criteria for the ONGC Scholarships for SC/ST students: The ONGC Scholarships for students belonging to the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes categories have the following criteria for eligibility: Applicant should either be enrolled in the first year of a graduation course in engineering or post graduation course in Geology or Geophysics. Applicant may also be holding a master s degree in business administration (MBA) and presently enrolled in any of the I.I.T. s or an Indian university or institute of repute. Applicant should not have an Overall Grade Point Average (OGPA) of less than 6 in a scale of 10. For students of Engineering, the evaluation is done for their performance in class 12 examination and for post graduation students in Geology or Geophysics or Business Administration the evaluation is done on the basis of their performance in graduation The yearly income of the parents of these applicants should not be more than Rs. 1.5 lacs. More Information on: FAEA Scholarships for SC/ ST Students Foundation or Academic Excellence and Access (FAEA) Offers SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY (Sponsored by the Confederation of Indian Industries (C.l.l.)) in Schedule castes and Scheduled Tribes Students. FAEA invites application for grant of 50 scholarships to pursue undergraduate studies in arts/ commerce/ science/ medical/ engineering and other technical and professional disciplines at any university/institution/college of student's choice anywhere in India. Eligibility Criteria: (1) Indian nationals (ii) Should belong to SC/ST (iii) Students who are currently studying in Class XII or have passed Class XII from a recognized board in India. Those in the 1 st year of the undergraduate course (any discipline) are also eligible to apply. Scope of Scholarship: FAEA provides financial aid to the students, which includes tuition fee, maintenance allowance or hostel/ mess charges and other allowances to cover travel, clothing and books; Scholarships are tenable for the duration of the course. All grants are renewed annually based on scholar's good academic performance. FAEA reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of scholarships. Foundation for Academic Excellence and Access (FAEA)., B-41, Qutab Institutional Area, New Mehrauli Road, New Delhi Visit us at : http// 3.0 INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SCIENCE, BANGALORE Indian Institute of Science invites applications for the IISc Summer Fellowship in Science and Engineering for SC/ST Students. Eligibility: Students studying I year M.Sc. in science disciplines (Biological Sciences/Physics, Chemistry/Mathematics) or III year B.E./B.Tech. or equivalent degree, during the academic year. Selection Criteria: IISc will evolve suitable criteria for selecting the candidates for the programme. Financial Support: IISc will provide: Traveling allowance equivalent to II Class train fare from College/residence to IISc and back. Free board and lodging (on shared basis) at IISc. Fellowship of Rs 5000/- and a book grant of Rs 1500 Features of the Programme: Selected students will work with one of the I.I.Sc. Faculty members and learn various techniques used in research for a period of one month. Application format can be downloaded from: UGC PG scholarships for SC, ST Students The University Grants Commission is inviting applications for the award of Scholarships under the scheme of PG Scholarships for Professional courses for SC/ ST candidates. The scheme has been initiated keeping in view the social background of the candidates from the studies in Professional subjects like Engineering and Technology, Management, Pharmacy etc. in Indian Universities/ Institutions/ Colleges. 6 The objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to 1000 SC/ST candidates to purse postgraduate level studies in Professional subjects at recognized Indian Universities/ Institutions/ Colleges. The candidate must have obtained graduate degree in the relevant subject and obtained admission at Postgraduate level for regular full time course in any of the Professional subject in a recognized University/ Institution/ College. Candidates pursuing PG course in Professional subjects by correspondence or by Distance Education mode are not eligible to receive financial assistance under this scheme. The upper age limit for male applicant is 45 years as on 1st July on the year of application and 50 years in the case of female candidates. In exceptional cases, the age may be relaxed. The tenure of award is for two or three years depending upon tenure of the Postgraduate course. Under the scheme For M.Tech. courses, selected candidates will get Rs. 5000, per month apart from contingency of Rs.15, 000 per annum other courses they will get Rs.3, 000 per month and contingency of Rs.10, 000 per annum. For further details visit National Overseas Scholarships/ Passage Grants for SC/ST Candidates Scholarships are awarded for higher studies abroad in specified fields of engineering, technology and science and covers cost of tuition fee and other educational expenses for various courses at Masters level, Ph D and Post Doctoral level. Requirements: For Post Doctoral - first class or 60% marks or equivalent in relevant Masters degree, Ph D and five years of research/ teaching/ professional experience in the concerned field. For Ph D - first class or 60% marks or equivalent in relevant Masters Degree and two years teaching/ research/ professional experience/ M Phil degree in the concerned field. For Masters Degree - first class or 60% marks or equivalent in relevant Bachelors degree and two years work experience in the concerned field. Candidates should be below 35 years. Total income from all sources of the employed candidate or his/ her parents/ guardians should not exceed Rs 18,000 per month, (excluding such allowances as are not treated as part of total income for the purpose of income-tax) as certified by the employer. ELIGIBILITY Students should have successfully cleared their first year examination of full time diploma in engg.course in the disciplines of Electrical /Electronic/Instrumentation /Mechanical /Civil and be relatively meritorious among the SC/ST candidates. Should not be in receipts of any financial aid or assistance from any other source, whatsoever. TENURE The scholarship is tenable from second year of diploma engg.course till completion of the diploma course. The scholarship is payable for all the 12 months in a year SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT The amount of scholarship will be limited to Rs.1000/-per month. EMPLOYMENT IN NTPC Subject to availability of vacancies the candidate in receipts of NTPC Scholarship will have to appear for NTPC selection test and /or interview for the post of Diploma Trainee, candidate will be required to undergo one year training during which period they will be paid stipend as per rules and on successful completion of training they will be appointed in the appropriate supervisory cadre. Candidates will he required to serve the Corporation for a minimum period of 3 years from the date of appointment in the supervisory cadre. Failure to appear for the NTPC selection test and /or interview and if selected to join as Trainee and thereafter serve NTPC for a period of 3 years will entail the candidate to refund the entire scholarship amount as well as training cost incurred on him. Estate, New Delhi (Ph to 14 Fax secsosstdel@nic.in, ddscstdel@hub.nic.in) offers the following Scholarships: 9.1 Merit scholarship to college/professional institution students belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC/Economically Depressed Sections (EDS)/ Minorities: Eligibility Criteria for College/Professional Institutions: (1) Only SC/ST/OBC/ED/Minorities students are eligible. 9 more marks at Sr. Secondary Examination/ graduate level and get admission in recognized college/professional/ technical institutions. (2) Scholarship would be granted to students of 3 years degree courses, post graduate studies at college level and professional courses of graduate degree and post graduate level and Diploma studies. 3) There shall be no limit of income for the applicant/parents/guardians for grant of scholarship in respect of SC/ST students. However, family income limit of Rs.48,000 p.a. is applicable for the parents/guardians belonging to OBC, Economically Depressed Section and minorities. (4) Students should have SC/ST/OBC/EDS/Minorities certificate issued by deputy Commissioner, Delhi. (5) The rate of scholarship would be reduced to 50% in case of a student who fails in the annual examination but continues studies except in cases where the student fails to appear in the annual examination on medical grounds or due to natural calamities or any other reasons beyond his/her control (6) International non-appearance in the annual examination would disqualify the student from the grant of scholarship during the next academic year (7) Students belonging to OBC/EDS/Minorities should not be in receipt of scholarship from any other sources. Merit scholarships are disbursed through 'Bearer cheques, which are issued by DSCST to individual students along with their parents. The Directorate of Hr. education would send institution wise list of eligible students indicating the name and amount payable to each. 9.0 National Scholarship for Persons with Disabilities:- These are offered to students with disabilities for financial assistance for pursuing higher and technical education. Eligibility: Financial assistance is available to Indian students with certified disabilities. Financial assistance is given for post matric/post secondary professional course in recognized institutions. Scholarships are awarded for one course to one student. Financial assistance can be given for computer with editing software for blind & deaf graduate and postgraduate students pursuing professional courses and for support access software for cerebral palsied students Students with disabilities, who have passed matriculation/ secondary or any higher examination from a recognized board/ University, would be eligible for the assistance. 10 completing the course in the preceding year with minimum 50 percent marks. Assistance is not available for courses having duration of less than one year. A scholarship holder under this scheme would not hold any other scholarship/ stipend. If awarded any other scholarship/ stipend, the student can exercise his/ her option for choosing the scholarship that he/she proposes to avail and inform awarding authority about the same. For availing financial assistance under this scheme monthly family income of the beneficiary should not be more than Rs. 15,000/- from all sources. Family income would include income of the parent/guardian. Awards: 500 awards are made available for pursuing higher and technical education and given through institutions in which students undertake the study. Awards are given to different categories of disabled students in following number. Amount of awards would vary among courses and would also depend on availability of hostel/residential facility with the institution. The details are given below: The awardees would also be reimbursed the course fee subject to a ceiling of Rs. 10,000 per year. Besides students living in the hostel/ residential facility provided by the institution, those students would also be considered hostellers who live in an accommodation hired at least by a group of 3 students living together with common mess arrangements. Such students would have to furnish a certificate in this regard countersigned by head of the institution. 9.1 Ministry of Welfare, New Delhi, Offers 60 scholarships at Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Research/Specialized training level. The scholarships are awarded in subjects for whom suitable facilities are not available in India. Preference is given to Automation and Robotics, Laser Technology, Naval Architecture, Offshore Structures, Paper Technology, Printing Technology, Reliability Eng. Eligibility: The scholarships are awarded to candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Denotified, Nomadic and Semi-Nomadic Tribes. The income limit of parents/guardians or the applicant himself/herself is fixed at Rs.5,000 per month for eligibility of the award. Age: 35 years. Value: US$5,940 per annum for the Bachelor's degree. US $6,600 per annum for the Master's and PhD degrees US$ 7,700 per annum for Postdoctoral research/training. 11 candidates is carried out by Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) through a written test. The selection of 10 students for CPL course is in addition to the scholarship scheme of DGCA for 40 SC/ ST students for PPL course and terms and conditions regarding grant of scholarship for the said CPL is as per the PMS Scheme of Ministry of Tribal Affairs. Ph: The Director General of Civil Aviation has a scheme for awarding 40 scholarships/stipends to the SC/ST candidates selected for flying training up to Private Pilot s Licence (PPL) standards in the age group of years, should have passed or equivalent examination with Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. The annual income of the parents should not exceed Rs.44,500. The award covers training charges, living expenses, cost of books, traveling expenses, cost of insurance and licence and medicine examination fees. At least 50% of these scholarships are awarded on merit to students coming from other Universities. Eligibility: Candidates who have secured 60% or above marks in the last qualifying examination are eligible to take the Screening Test. Scholarships are awarded strictly in order of merit based on the performance of the candidates at the Screening Test. However no candidates are awarded Scholarships unless he/she has secured at least 40% marks in the Screening Test.. Test: A screening Test is conducted by the concerned Department based on syllabus of B.Sc. (Hons) of this University for selection of students for National Scholarships sometime in the month of September Scholarship Scheme for Women Having Science Qualifications: The Department of Science and Technology has launched a scholarship scheme for women having science qualifications for training in the area of intellectual property rights, especially in patent searches, understanding of patent specification and preparation of technology scan report. Long term objective: 1. Empower the talented and skilled women who have studied science, engineering and medicines to contribute effectively in the advancement of science and technology in the country. 2. Develop a pool of women in India ready to undertake scientific and technical aspects of intellectual property rights. Short term objectives: 1. Trained, talented and skilled women who have studied science, engineering and medicines in patent searches and other aspects of intellectual property rights enabling them to seek specialized employment or be self employed. 2. Develop a core of professionals for preparing specialized reports such a technology scan based on patent information. 3. Develop a pool of resource persons in intellectual property rights for conducting workshops on IPR. Eligibility: Candidates should be M.Sc. /Ph.D. in physical sciences, chemical sciences, life sciences or B.Tech. or B.E. / M. Tech or MBBS/ MS/ MD with good academic record. Candidates with higher qualifications can also apply. 2. Candidates should have good familiarity with computers in handling databases, surfing the net and information search. 3. Candidates with research experience preparing project reports and experience, preparing project reports and experience of thesis writing would be preferred. (iii) Annual income of the parents of the student should not exceed Rs Lakhs. (iv) The said scholarship is offered to the students belonging to scheduled castes who have already secured admission for: (a) MBA through CAT at IIM-Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Lucknow, Indore, Kozhikode (Kerala) or Indian Business School, Hyderabad or any A + B-schools as classified by the Business India or equivalent organization/ institution.
