1 Central CUSD#3 April 19, 2018 Board Briefs Board Members Present Dean Moore Mat Cramer Tim Lee Diane Hughes Jason Ippensen Jim McClintock Chris Marlow Superintendent Martin Cook Administrators Present Eric Stotts, CES Erica Smith, CJHS Board Office Secretary Debbie Roberts Regular Board Meeting The Board of Education met at 7:00 p.m. on April 19, 2018, for their regular meeting at Central High School located in Camp Point. Following the prayer and pledge, President Moore called the meeting to order and guests were introduced: Cathy Barlow, Alison Dickhut and Ronda Frese. President Moore asked if there were any questions and/or comments from the public. Ronda Frese thanked Mr. Cook and Matt Long for the outstanding job they are doing filling in for the high school principal position. Alison Dickhut thanked the board for the teaching opportunities at Central, as she will be resigning at the end of the school year. The meeting continued and the current agenda was approved. Action by Consent Agenda The following was approved as presented: March 15, 2018, Board Meeting Minutes April Bills March Treasurer s Report - Mr. Cook reviewed the treasurer s report. He will let the board know next week how the budget will end for the fiscal year. Let Bids for Milk and Bread Bus lease agreement was awarded to Midwest Transit to lease four 2018 seventy-one passenger school busses, and purchase one 2018 wheelchair school bus. Purchase of one 2018 fourteen passenger activity school bus from Southern Bus and Mobility

2 Committee Action Items Building The Building Committee met on April 17, Due to fire and rescue safety issues, the curb in front of the high school will be painted yellow & designated as a NO PARKING zone for emergency purposes. There will also be additional handicapped parking added. A map of the parking area was presented to the board for their input. There will be more discussion at the May board meeting. Work will be completed before the school year. Four more classrooms at the high school now have air-conditioning. Duct work for another four is underway. The committee is getting prices/information for additional units. The fuel pumps by the bus garage will be painted over the summer. FS will provide the paint. The pot holes in the high school parking area will be addressed over the summer. Policy The board approved the second reading/adoption of board policies 2:260; 5:20; 4:40; 5:170. Finance The finance committee met on April 10 th. The board approved the fee schedule with no changes from the school year. Curriculum There will be course sequence changes made for high school science beginning the school for Illinois Science Assessment. A letter will be sent out to all high school parents explaining the change. Old Business The following students were acknowledged: Senior of the Month for April Kelsey Post Senior of the Month for May Lauren White Senior of the Year from local bankers Reed Olson FCCLA State Officer - Elyse Travis Abigail Heinecke was awarded the Silver Medal at the FCCLA State Conference and qualified for the national competition in Life Event Planning this summer. New Business There was discussion on dismissal times for the school year. Superintendent Report Mini-Relay for Life will be on May 2 nd. Baccalaureate May 13 th 7:00 p.m. Graduation May 20 th 2:00 p.m.

April 30 th & May 1 st Crush soda will be sold 7:45 8:10 May 2 nd - fourth grade visit the Junior High at 9:30 and Relay for Life 10:15-11:30 Erica Smith Central Junior High The Junior High raised $2,396 for Relay for Life from the bake sale held each Wednesday in February and March. We will continue raising money for Central Relay for Life with the following activities: Relay for Life Events Can' Cancer: donate money directly with coins, bills, checks Sun, moon, etc. donate $1 to honor a cancer patient, survivor, or in memory of someone Starting April 25th Wristbands: $2 for black or white multi-colored; $1 solid color Crush soda sold on May 2 in the morning for $2 Student Dress Up Days are $1 per day or $5 for week Cancer, I ll pass!! 4 Martin Cook Central High School In January, the College Board launched the 2018 SAT Practice Kickoff Week Challenge: a global challenge to schools and districts to help students unlock their free, personalized SAT study plans based on PSAT/NMSQT test results. Over five million students have practiced on Official SAT Practice since its launch. Research shows that studying on Official SAT Practice for 20 hours is associated with an average score gain of 115 points from the PSAT/NMSQT to the SAT. Central School District 3 is one of only eight SAT Practice Kickoff Week Challenge winners world-wide, recognized for having the overall highest percentage of 2017 PSAT/NMSQT takers who linked College Board and Khan Academy accounts between October and January in its category. The PSAT will be administered to 10 th graders on April 26 th.
