Scholarship for a Graduating Senior... 2, The Board of Directors are pleased to accept endowed gifts designed to provide continued quality education at Ponca Public Schools. The purpose of this action is to begin to build an account which will serve as initial monies for a fundraising campaign. Money raised from the fundraiser campaign will be donated to the Ponca Public School District as a gift from the Foundation and donors to enhance the new 7-12 building project. 4 We are pleased to announce our 2010 Scholarship and Grant R Austin David Hansen Joshua Douglas Bennett son of David and Valerie Hansen, is the recipient of the Ponca Community Educational Foundation Endowment Scholarship, the Knerl Health Professions Scholarship, and the Colonel Earl C. and Celia Bogard Endowment Scholarship. Austin will attend the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) and major in pre-pharmacy. will attend the University of Nebraska (Lincoln) and major in engineering. He is the son of Chris and Deanna Bennett. Josh is the recipient of the Randy J. Lukken Endowment Scholarship, the John McKinley Family Memorial Endowment Scholarship, and the Jeff and Lori Northrup Endowment Scholarship. Benjamin Scott Gehring is the recipient of the Wayne H. and Dorothy R. Smithey Endowment Scholarship, the Judge John E. Sharrell Lynette Logue Haley Ann Brown is the daughter of Robert and Wilma Logue. She is the recipient of the Waldo and Joy A. Birkley Family Endowment Scholarship and the Ponca Education Association Scholarship. Sharrell will attend Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska and plans to major in elementary education. daughter of Rod and Holly Brown, is the recipient of the P.E.O. Chapter DG Endowment Scholarship, the Fern Mendenhall Memorial Endowment Scholarship, and the Ponca Education Association Scholarship. Haley will attend Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska and major in elementary education. Heather Joyce Husen Joshua Ray Watchorn daughter of Mary and the late Steve Husen, plans to attend Doane College in Crete, Nebraska. She is the recipient of the Steve Husen Memorial Endowment Scholarship and the Carl and Eva Armstrong Memorial Endowment Scholarship. Hannah plans to attend Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska and major in business. Zachary Robert Brewer son of Robert Brewer, Jr. and Lannette and Dennis Statler, is the recipient of the Dr. A. B. and Gladys L. Scheffel Memorial Endowment Scholarship and the Allen Curt Neill Memorial Scholarship. Zach will attend Northeast Community College in South Sioux City, Nebraska, where he plans to earn a welding diploma. Kelsey Eleanor Beacom Scholarship Selection Committee at Work daughter of Marty and Rose Beacom, has received the Cook s Country Store Scholarship, the Ray Kayl Family Memorial Scholarship, the Reallocated Maurice Brennan Memorial Endowment Scholarship, and the Reallocated Ed Bloomfield Memorial Endowment Scholarship. Kelsey will attend Northeast Community College in South Sioux City, Nebraska to begin the education transfer program. Andrew Joseph Watchorn is the son of George and Amy Watchorn. Andrew has been accepted at Midland Lutheran College in Fremont, Nebraska and will major in general studies. He has been awarded the Ponca Rodeo Association Scholarship, the Paula Bourns Harrington Scholarship, the Ponca Area Community Club Scholarship, and the Reallocated Ponca Athletic Booster Club Scholarship. Nolan Michael Block recipient of the Ponca Volunteer Fire Department Scholarship, is the son of Mike Block and Connie Block. Nolan will attend Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. He plans to major in athletic training. Laminator for Jackson Campus The Ponca Community Educational Foundation (P.C.E.F.) announces its 2010 Funding Opportunities for Ponca Graduates and Patrons of the District One of the purposes of the P.C.E.F. is to promote and support educational opportunities for the students of the Ponca Public School District. One of the avenues of support has always been funding scholarships to Ponca High School graduating seniors. Because of recent growth from the generous support of its members, the P.C.E.F. is excited to sponsor additional funding opportunities. Listed below is a brief description of those opportunities. After reading these descriptions be sure to encourage a P.H.S. connected student, parent, alumni, or community member to utilize these resources. Telisha Marquee Mari daughter of Bob Mari and Pam Mari, has been awarded the Kevin John Rush Memorial Endowment Scholarship. Telisha has been accepted at Metro Community College in Omaha, Nebraska. She is interested in accounting and dental hygiene careers. Guideline information, cover sheets, and applications for each program may be obtained by contacting the high school guidance office at Ponca Public School. Awards for P.H.S. Graduating Seniors 2. Awards for P.H.S. Alumni 3. Awards for Certified Staff Members at Ponca Public School 4. Awards for Non-Certified Staff at Ponca Public School Kayla Marie Herfel has been awarded the Knights of Columbus Scholarship. Kayla is the daughter of Jeff and Sheila Herfel. She plans to attend Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska, where she has enrolled in the elementary education program. Should an individual, family or business wish to contribute to the P.C.E.F., please contact Scholarship Chairperson, Fran Hasler, Ponca, NE, Applicants for P.C.E.F. scholarships and grants must complete an application form by March 15 to be eligible for the awards. The Scholarship Selection Committee uses a scoring system to determine recipients. Applicants are scored on academics, activities, and the strength of the application itself. Many of the awards have specific eligibility guidelines established by the donors.
