1 Event Sponsorship Package PRESIDENT S MESSAGE: The year 2016 has been an extraordinary year for the Lil Abner Foundation. As founder and President of the Lil Abner Foundation, I am so humbled and blessed with the progress we have made in the past 7 years. I feel committed to continue to serve this community. We have been able to advance our Tutoring, Archery, and Taekwondo programs, in addition to our Adult English and Citizenship classes. Our new Dance program has exceeded our expectations and we are currently offering classes three times per week. Also the FIU Archery program began serving the FIU Alumni at the Foundation Center on Saturday mornings. We made history by having our 8th Annual Thanksgiving Bash as a huge party held on Flagler Street between 112 th and 114 th Ave. It was an open invitation for all residents of the City of Sweetwater. We had almost 4,000 residents in attendance. We have continued to offer scholastic programs, including scholarships for children to attend Belen Jesuit Preparatory School from 6th to 12th grades and scholarships for adults to attend Florida International University to earn a degree. The goal is simple: improve the lives of all residents in our community. Because we are very aware that our services are needed in our community of Sweetwater, we will continue with our goals to fundraise the necessary funds to serve these citizens. 2 2017 EVENTS ULTIMATE SOFTWARE-7th ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT Miami Springs Golf Course 650 Curtiss Parkway Miami Springs, FL Friday, October 13th, :30 AM Registration Noon Tee Off 6:00 pm- Diner/Raffle/Awards Most of the efforts of the Foundation are provided free of charge to the community. To raise funds to help cover the costs, we will be hosting our 7 th Annual Golf Tournament at the beautiful Miami Springs Golf Course and Country Club. Last year we had a record number of golfers. Join prominent members of the community and people from all over south Florida for a day of competitive fun with 100% of the proceeds going to our efforts. 9th ANNUAL THANKSGIVING BASH Closure of Flagler Street from 112 th Ave to 114 th Ave Saturday, November 18th, :00 am - 3:00 pm Begun as an event for the residents of the Li l Abner Mobile Home Park, the Thanksgiving Bash has grown to an outreach event for all the residents of the City of Sweetwater. In 2016 nearly 4,000 residents attended, with over 400 children receiving a Christmas toy gift. During the Bash, we provide needy residents food and entertainment, conducted several children s shows & raffle off prizes & whole turkeys. The goal is simple: improve the lives of all residents in the community.
