Jan. 7, 2016 at 12:30 pm Minnesota State University, Mankato Financial Aid TIP #3 for Seniors and Parents: Attend a financial aid night presentation to learn how to complete the FSA ID and Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form online. Every high school hosts a financial aid night! College Goal 808, is a FREE, FAFSA submission event hosted on Wed., Jan 20, 2016 and on Sun., Jan. 24, 2016 at various locations throughout the State of Hawaii. For more information, log on at Financial Aid Night: Are you in need of money for college? The first step is to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)! In order to complete the FAFSA, both the student and the ONE parent will need to create their FSA ID to submit the FAFSA. On Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016 at 6:30 pm in the Kalaheo library, WCC s financial aid officer will review components of the FAFSA. Additionally, those who did not complete their FSA IDs can apply on site. 2 Native Hawaiian Scholarship Aha: This Native Hawaiian families needing money for college should plan to attend one of the Scholarship Aha events held across the state. Various scholarship organizations will be there to share their scholarship information. Carter Serteens Club: Founded in 1970, a local organization to provide service opportunities, leadership training, and social interaction for gifted and talented 7 th 12 th graders from public and private schools on Oahu. Meet monthly to plan activities and spend time together. For more information go to: Programs: GoCook! Hawaii A 3 month food service training program, taught by professional culinary instructors, hands on, in a real work environment at the Culinary Institute of the Pacific at Kapiolani Community College. Those who successfully complete the program will receive a Certificate of Professional Development from KCC, a nationally recognized ServSafe Food Handler s Certificate and referrals to potential employers. College Horizons: Is a six-day crash course in preparing for the college application process. Students learn about a variety of colleges and universities and establish personal relationships with college admission representatives as well as college counselors. SLE is a fast paced program of academic classes, military training, physical fitness training and intramural athletics during June. SLE is very competitive, so apply early. 4 Naval Academy Summer Seminar Program is a fast-paced, six-day experience for high achievers who have completed their junior year in high school. Summer Seminar teaches you about life at the Naval Academy, where academics, athletics, and professional training play equally important roles in developing our nation's leaders. If you think that you may be interested in pursuing an appointment to one of the nation's service academies and serving your country as an officer, you should seriously consider attending the Naval Academy's Summer Seminar. 5 Free online PSAT and SAT Prep: Beginning May 2015, College Board, in partnership with Khan Academy is offering personalized, free practice resources for students. Visit: With the upcoming PSAT and SAT redesign, student should logon and start learning about the changes now! SAT & ACT Registration : To register for either the ACT or SAT, students must create their login and password for each test. Students register online, paying with a credit card. When asked for the high school code, Kalaheo High School s Code is for both tests. Students are encouraged to send their scores to four colleges for free at the time of registration. Scores released AFTER testing may incur a cost per each release. NEW For both the SAT and ACT, you must upload your headshot photo AT THE TIME of registration. Read the instructions to ensure the correct type of photo. Fee waivers are available to juniors and seniors who are eligible for free/reduced lunch.
