I am happy to be a part of the fourth issue of ASIRVAD TODAY N e w s l e t t e r c o v e r s a c t i v i t i e s commencing from the July 2011 to 30th September It is our belief and conviction that our Trust has been bestowed with an opportunity to redress some of the weaknesses that exist in our social fabric. Asirvad Development Foundation (ADF) which focused primarily on health related aspects of women, started providing education assistance to the poor students of the AMPL borrowers and other charitable activities now enlarged its scope of operations to Madurai and Thirunelveli divisions of AMPL. Free Health screening camps conducted in association with Private and Public Hospitals which was earlier confined to the borrowers of AMPL and their family members was extended to the public at large and the response from the public was overwhelming. Till today,7737 persons had totally benefited from the camps. At this juncture, I take this opportunity to thank all the Doctors and staff of these hospitals for their co-operation. It is pertinent to note that ADF has already left an indelible mark on the lives of these individuals. Pay Roll Giving was introduced in AMPL to solicit the participation of employees in the social activities and an inspiring majority of them are making monthly contributions and I take this moment to appreciate the valuable services rendered by Area Managers, Branch Managers and Field Development Officers of AMPL who also actively participated and assisted the staff of ADF and had contributed to the success of the health camps. ADF launched the Scholarship for School Students (SSS) with a view to provide better literacy to the general community and to bring inclusive development of society at the grass root level. The main target group of this program are children with single parenthood, children of deserted mothers, beneficiaries of Asirvad Microfinance Pvt. Ltd with poor economic background, refugees or people migrating due to any natural calamities, children those who are in Orphanages etc. This programme was launched in June 2011 and 36 students benefited from the same. 25 students with good educational performance received scholarships for this academic year st and 2nd ranks holders of the AMPL borrowers in higher secondary examinations (+2) in the 22 districts where AMPL has its operations were given 1st prize of Rs.10,000/- and 2nd Prize of Rs.5,000/- to motivate them respectively to pursue higher goals in education. As Chairman, I was overwhelmed to see the enthusiasm of those students to pursue higher education in their eyes. I am also glad to bring to your notice that Asirvad has inaugurated its charitable activities at the Thiurnelveli Division of AMPL and till today 750 persons had benefited from the free camps held in association with Dr. Agarwal s Eye Clinic, Tirunelveli, Nellai eye hospital and Bejan Singh Eye Hospital, Nagercoil ADF also has launched the rehabilitation programme and gave away 25kgs of rice and cash of Rs 500 to all affected members of AMPL at Arumuganeri when fire broke out in. their hutments. Our trust has plans to organize many social events for the benefit of the weaker sections to uplift their livelihood and standard of living in future with a view to help the poor sections of the society I take this opportunity to thank all the staff members of ADF who have made these charity efforts a great success. I thank the FDOs, BMs, AMs, DMs and everyone at AMPL for assisting the staff of ADF and also for coordinating with the borrowers and the general public. A small and humble beginning has been made and I firmly believe that with the help and support of other, ADF will continue its untiring work towards the charitable activities in the years to come. Sincerely,
