1 2018 RURAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Awards Twenty-five $1000 Scholarships Eligibility CTEC will accept and consider scholarship applications from all active members and their immediate families (high school seniors and above) whose primary residence is served by CTEC. The account must be in the name of the applicant or the applicant s parent or guardian. Applicants must be of good character as evidenced by at least two letters of recommendation from teachers, principals, counselors, etc. from the school they are currently attending. Applicants must demonstrate a coherent degree plan and willingness to pursue a course of higher learning. Former recipients of the CTEC scholarship are not eligible. Program Guidelines A Scholarship Selection Committee, appointed by the Board of Directors of Central Texas Electric Co-op, will choose candidates and alternates for the available scholarships to be awarded. Scholarships will be granted to attend a recognized Texas institution of higher education. Recipients must carry a minimum of 12 hours or be considered by the registrar to be a full-time student in the fall semester. All scholarships will be mailed directly to the Financial Aid Office of the selected school. Application Process CTEC will be mailing applications and guidelines in December to all school districts in which CTEC has meters. Any questions should be directed to the Member Services Department at CTEC (2832), or locally at (830) Successful applicants will be announced in late April or early May. Deadline Completed applications must be in the Fredericksburg CTEC office by 5:00 p.m. on February 23, 2018.

To be complete, this Application MUST be accompanied by: An official transcript from the school the applicant has most recently attended, a copy of SAT/ACT scores, and at least two letters of recommendation. The two required letters of recommendation included must be from teachers, principals, counselors, etc., from the school they are currently attending. For applicants returning to school after an extended absence, letters will be accepted from previous employers, supervisors, ministers, etc. A recent photo - wallet size, graduation photos are preferred. The photo is not used in the judging process but will be used for publicity purposes if you are a scholarship recipient. If a photo is not included, your application will not be considered. In applying for this scholarship, I am aware that I must be considered a full time student, and demonstrate acceptable standards of citizenship and character. I agree to permit the review of this Application and my school records by anyone representing the Central Texas Electric Co-op Scholarship Selection Committee.
