German universities offer international degrees: - Bachelor - Master - Doctorate Exception Staatsexamen in the following subjects: Medicine (Human & Vet), Law, Pharmacy Mutual recognition of degrees between Taiwan and Germany! Studying in Germany Page 14 Important: Admission to a Master Course requires a Bachelor Degree in a related field. There is no entrance exam for Master courses
15 Studying in Germany Language requirements Studying in Germany Page 15 Courses taught in German: TestDaF or DSH, (required level differs between unis and courses) Courses: taught in English: IELTS or TOEFL (required level differs between unis and courses) TestDaF (Test of German as a Foreign Language) 2 times a year (November, April) in Taipei, Kaohsiung) DSH (only in Germany, administered by German universities TestDaF and DSH can be replaced by other German Language Tests (offered by the Goethe-Institut) Please check:
16 Studying in Germany Application and Admission Depending on the institution and your country of origin, there are two ways to apply for admission to a German university: In most cases: Direct application to the university Application through uni-assist (a service centre for German universities) uni-assist service fees: 68 Euro for first application, 15 Euro for further applications Application deadlines mostly 15 January, 15 July, but attention: deadlines may vary!!! Visa application with the Deutsche Institut ( 在台協會 ) in Taipei after receiving offer from university (plan for approx 6 weeks) Studying in Germany Page 16
17 Studying in Germany - Costs Tuition fees General tuition fees of up to 500 per semester for the first degree programme in some of Germany s 16 states Semester contribution of up to 200 per semester (administrative costs, student union contribution for student dining, sports, cultural events and a semester ticket) Studying in Germany Page 17 Private universities/business schools do charge tuition fees. Inquire about the exact cost of tuition fees at the university in question
