1 IEEE President OVERVIEW: As the Chief Executive Officer, the President wrks with the IEEE Bard f Directrs, the Executive Directr and staff t guide IEEE in fulfilling its missin and adhering t the IEEE Strategic Plan and t therwise carry ut the duties and respnsibilities assigned by the Bard f Directrs. By traditin, the President is the senir public spkespersn fr IEEE, representing IEEE in bth ceremnial and substantive rles in public frums and in interactins with ther rganizatins. TERM: This psitin is a three-year cmmitment; ne year as ; ne year as President; and ne year as Past President. The IEEE President, and Past President als serve as members f the IEEE Bard f Directrs, the gverning bdy f IEEE. DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITES: Perfrms such tasks as are assigned by the Bard f Directrs; In the absence f the President, presides and perfrms such tasks as are assigned by the IEEE Bard f Directrs r as may be specified in the Bylaws; Assumes the duties f the President shuld the Presidential ffice becme vacated; May appint ad hc cmmittees t address a specific issue r activity that is nt apprpriate t be addressed by an nging Standing Cmmittee f the Bard f Directrs. President In cnsultatin with the IEEE Bard f Directrs and IEEE Crprate Staff, prvides leadership and sets directin fr Bard engagement Assists in cnducting Bard member rientatin; Prepares agenda fr bard meetings; Calls special meetings if necessary; Appints members t Bard cmmittees and task frces; Prmtes utstanding Bard develpment and gvernance practices; and encurages every bard member t carry ut the rles and respnsibilities f bard service; Represents the IEEE Bard f Directrs in setting f Executive Directr s annual gals and cnducts the annual Perfrmance f Executive Directr; Serves as pint f cntact fr Bard members n bard issues, prmtes meaningful dialgue at Bard meetings, respect thers right t speak and give every bard member an pprtunity t cntribute; Meets with any directr wh is nt adequately perfrming his r her duties as a member f the Bard r any cmmittee; Facilitates cmmunicatin between ther members f the Bard and the Executive Directr; hwever each directr is free t cmmunicate directly with the Executive Directr;

ELIGIBILITY: Must be an IEEE member in gd standing; Must be f IEEE Senir Member grade r higher. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS: See Qualificatins and Skills fr Member, Bard f Directrs. In additin, Pssesses a very high degree f leadership skills in rder t meet the demands and duties f the psitin. Is cmmitted t advancing the missin f IEEE thrugh vlunteer/staff partnerships; Has a glbal perspective; Is a gd cmmunicatr in bth frmal and infrmal settings; Is utward lking and able t be a respected spkespersn n the large glbal gvernmental and business stage; Is scially adept in all types f settings; Is able t wrk effectively with thers; Has a lng-term visin fr IEEE and is able t lead in endeavrs that will reach fruitin beynd the President s term.
