22 Call 2018 Finnish HEIs participate in 4 selected Erasmus Mundus-programmes: SECCLO, Master s programme in Security and Cloud Computing, coordinated by Aalto University (partly from 2004) EACH, Excellence in Analytical Chemistry, partners University of Helsinki and Åbo Akademi (renewal) MUrCS, Master of Urban Climate and Sustainability, partner Lahti University of Applied Science emplant, EM Master Program in Plant Breeding, partner University of Helsinki There are currently 9 active EMJMD-programmes with Finnish participation (Coordinators in University of Eastern Finland and Aalto).

23 Call 2018 Significant increase in the number of non-european partner HEIs in the EMJMD proposals; from 269 to 492. The most popular partner countries outside of Europe in the proposals were the US (51), Brazil (46), China (33), Mexico (29), Japan (20), Chile (19), Canada (18) and India (17). The partnership compositions show strong connections to SMEs, research centres, associations and industry. There were close links to the labour market and 88 % of the proposals included an internship component. Finnish EMJMD programmes mes/erasmus_mundus

40 EMJMD Consortium Agreement Institutional commitment of all organisations participating in the EMJMD consortium. In line with the principles of the European Charter for Higher Education (ECHE), it must cover all academic, operational, administrative and financial aspects related to the implementation of the EMJMD. Definition of the roles and duties of the consortium partners and of the joint governing bodies of the EMJMD consortium Description of the academic programme, design of the programme/semester structure and establishment of the mobility paths Financial Management: definition of student participation costs and the establishment of a multi-annual budget with human and financial resources Definition of a development and sustainability plan Joint promotion/awareness-raising activities and the marketing aspects Student application, selection and admission criteria and procedures Student services Consortium Agreement guidelines on the EACEA website 40

43 Additional scholarships for 8 targeted regions Applicants may apply for additional scholarships for one or more regions/countries of the world (12 geographical windows) African, Caribbean, Pacific countries (ACP), Asia, Central Asia, South Africa, Latin America, Eastern - Southern neighbouring countries, Gulf countries Financed through the EU external funding instruments For Asia, Central Asia and Latin America regions specific priorities apply! 43

44 Specific priorities for three regions Asia (Region 6): 65% of the available scholarships are earmarked for students from Least Developed Countries (Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Nepal) no additional scholarships for students from China and India Central Asia (Region 7): 65% of the available scholarships are earmarked for students from Low or Lower Middle Income Countries (Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan) Latin America (Region 8): 25% of the available scholarships are earmarked for students from Lower Middle Income Countries (Bolivia, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Paraguay) 35% of the available scholarships are earmarked for students from Brazil and Mexico together 44

45 Award Criterion for additional scholarships (1) Indicatively, consortia may receive around 12 additional student scholarships per intake - per EMJMD edition (4 intakes/editions per contract 48 scholarships) ADDITIONAL AWARD CRITERION Only projects that have passed the minimum threshold under the award criterion "Relevance" and obtain a total of at least 70 points will be assessed against the additional criterion for targeted regions. 45

46 Award Criterion for additional scholarships Relevance of the project in the targeted regions The proposal describes the methods used to attract highly talented students from the targeted region(s). Partner HEIs, thematic networks, conferences, alumni, industry contacts, societal actors, study fairs, Finnish Embassies (educational advisors). The proposal encourages cooperation with HEIs and/or other eligible participating organisation from Partner Countries in the targeted region(s). The added value of such cooperation to the EMJMD is clearly explained. Need for this specific academic expertise, associated partners, scholar mobility 46

47 How to apply Erasmus+ EMJMD call for proposals 2018 Publication of Call: 25 October 2017 Deadline: 15 February :00 CET Budget: ~ 120 M + ~ 32 M for "targeted regions" Nr. of projects: ~ 42 EMJMDs Nr. of scholarships per intake (per project): ~ 15 (around 60 per Grant Agreement) plus ~ 12 (around 48 per Grant Agreement) for targeted regions Award decision: by July 2018

48 How to apply - eform Applications to be submitted using an eform (parts A, B, C, D consortium composition and basic project data) With attachments 1. Register the partnership's organisations in the Participant Portal and receive a Participant Identification Code (PIC) 2. Create your electronic application form using your PICs 3. Fill in the eform 4. Attach completed versions of the attachments within the eform Description of the project (if applicable Targeted regions), Grant request table, Declaration on honour and Partners' Mandates, Other relevant annexes 5. Submit the eform on-line 48
