The deep sense of compassion and concern towards the society has driven Prof. Dr. Sanjay B. Chordiya, Founder President & Chairman, Suryadatta Education Foundation, to initiate this drive The remarkable sense of responsibility towards the society, especially the student community at large, motivates Prof Chordiya to take up initiatives in identifying personalities in the society and recognizing their efforts of uplifting the society. Such recognition encourages the students to imbibe values and get inspiration from such eminent personalities who are stalwarts in their area of expertise. In sync with the same Suryadatta Group of Institutes, Pune felicitated the distinguished personalities from Ahmednagar from different walks of life who have proved to be the light house for society through their work, with Suryadatta Excellence Awards 2014 on 29 th September The awardees of this prestigious award were: Page 1 of 8
2 1. Shri Santosh Bothara of Bothra Group of Industries (Paras Group) in the category of Entrepreneurship. He started his industry for agro equipment from scratch and in the span of 12 years this group has become a prime industry with assets more than Rs 400 crores in Agro based sector. 2. Shri Rajesh Gugale was facilitated as Young Achiever: At the age of 27, he works for uniting the Jain community with other communities in Ahmadnagar and has under taken various charitable social projects for helping downtrodden strata of the society. He is playing active role in Jain Yuva Sangathan and Amhi Nagarkar. 3. Dr. Sucheta Rajendra Dhamane : felicitated for Social services Through her Mauli Seva Pratisthan, she is looking after the mentally retarded orphan female adults in her NGO. The number of such orphan females, (mentally disturbed patients) of Mauli is 70, plus 7 children of these patients. 4. Shri Vilas Gitay: Was facilitated for his work in the field of Literature. He is the recipient of Sahitya Academy Award for his work of translation of Ravindranath Tagore s literature in Marathi. He has written many books and novels in Marathi. 5. Dr. Sudha Kankaria (Ophthalmologist): felicitated for BETI BACHAO ANDOLAN. She has so far saved more than 9000 female foetus.more than newly married couples pledged that they would welcome daughter s arrival in their families. 6. Shri Pawan Naik: For his contribution to Music through SUFI SANGEET. 7. Prof Meghatai Kale: For her work in Banking and finance. She is the Founder President of Ambika Mahila Sahakari Bank. Among 88 banks run by females, of females and for females in the country, the ranking of Ambika Bank is 2 nd. 8. Shri Sanjay Dhopaokar: Was felicitated for his work in the field of Sports (JUDO).Under his training 6 sportsmen have received Shri Chhatrapati Sports Award. He has trained more than 6000 students so far. 9. Mrs Babytai Gaikwad: was felicitated for Women Empowerment. Though not literate, Babytai fought for the rehabilitation & remarriages of widows & resettled many of them happily. She has established Kranti Jyot Mahila Mandal for this noble cause. Though she comes from economically poor background (She herself is a vegetable vendor), she is doing this social service through selffinance. Page 2 of 8
3 The Awardees expressed gratitude for acknowledging their work through prestigious Suryadatta Excellence Award & expressed that such an honor gives them further strength to keep on walking on their less traded path. They narrated the challenges faced by them during their work & how they went on & on without fear or favour. This inspired the students & they pledged for complying with social responsibilities once they start their professional career. The Distinguished personalities from Ahmednagar highly appreciated the efforts and contributions of Suryadatta Group, Pune, towards the Holistic development of students.
