1 SCHOLARSHIP INFORMATION As the office receives information about scholarships, they are posted on the Class of 2018 Google classroom page. The information is also shared with parents on the counselor updates. National Scholarships SCHOLARSHIP SEARCH This site contains the major search engines for college scholarships. This link provides links to multiple scholarship websites. RaiseMe RaiseMe partners with over 250 universities to offer students scholarships for their achievements during high school and community college. Scholarships can begin as early as ninth grade. Click the link to sign up for opportunities. The service is free. Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor QuestBridge The Hagan Scholarship MENSA Foundation Scholarship ACT Student Champions $500 non-renewable scholarship. A student who has overcome challenges and can articulate education and career actions. must have a composite ACT score of a 22 or a 3.0 GPA. Application is available on Mrs. Stewart s Google classroom page - Class of 2019 The KY Association of Conservation Districts Auxiliary George Crafton Scholarship. $1000 will be awarded to a high school senior who intends to major in the field of agriculture. (BOBBY) THOMAS MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND The fund was created under the direction of then President Charles Maiden and the Kentucky Sheriff s Association Board of Directors in This scholarship fund is in honor of the former Hardin County Sheriff and Past President of the Kentucky Sheriff s Association, the late Robert E. (Bobby) Thomas. Robert E. Bobby Thomas Memorial Scholarship Application Fund is available to any qualified applicant who meets all the criteria outlined in the bylaws. See application on class of 2018 google classroom page. KENTUCKY HOUSING AUTHORITY will award three $ year scholarships and one $2500 scholarship. Qualifications and applications can be found on the Class of 2018 google page or at KY Farm Bureau Scholarships are available in the office and on-line. Whitaker Bank Scholarship

3 For the fifth year Whitaker Bank, as part of its continuing title sponsorship of the Boys Sweet 16, and the KHSAA will be presenting four one-time $1,500 scholarships. The scholarships are open to high school seniors that participate in KHSAA sanctioned sports and sport-activities. Deadline for the information to be received by the KHSAA is Feb. 28. There is no limit to the number of applicants from a school. Winners will be recognized during the 2018 Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Boys State Basketball Tournament, March in Lexington. Whitaker Bank/KHSAA Sweet 16 Scholarship Application Forms are only available online. KEDC Scholarship The KEDC Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to college (2 or 4 year), technical or vocational bound students graduating from a high school in a KEDC member district. Criteria: The recipient of the KEDC scholarship shall: Maintain a grade point average (GPA) no lower than 3.0 and Meet current benchmarks for the ACT as set by CPE in 13 KAR 2:020. ACT (English = 18, Reading = 20, Mathematics = 19) Write an essay demonstrating potential - (Why are you the best fit for this scholarship?) Must demonstrate financial need; disclose other scholarship awards (types and amounts) Amount: A scholarship will be awarded in the amount of $2,500, to be divided into two equal installments (once per semester). Deadline: The application deadline is April 1, Achieve Your Dream Scholarship The 2018 Kimberly Merritt Achieve Your Dreams scholarship deadline is February 17, Mason County is a KYACAC school, our students are eligible to apply for this $500 scholarship. Students interested in going into the health field or in joining the athletic trainer program, while earning potential scholarship money towards tuition, can apply. 4 Civil Engineering Scholarship Program The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet awards new scholarships each year to qualifying students interested in attending the University of Kentucky (UK) or Western Kentucky University (WKU) or University of Louisville (UL) J. B. Speed School of Engineering to obtain a Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE). Students may also attend pre-engineering courses at Kentucky State University (KSU), through the Kentucky Community and Technical College (KCTCS) system, or other Kentucky state colleges or universities, and then complete their Bachelors of Science in Civil Engineering (BSCE) at one of the accredited institutions. Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet awards 5-10 new scholarships each year to qualifying students interested in attending Bluegrass Community & Technical College in Lexington, Kentucky, or Big Sandy Community & Technical College in Prestonsburg, Kentucky, to complete an Associate s Degree in Civil Engineering Technology. The Cabinet began the Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program in 2009 and has worked with the Kentucky Community & Technical College System (KCTCS) to develop a program that will prepare students for work with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet upon graduation. Kentucky Farm Bureau Scholarship Kentucky Farm Bureau awards 90 scholarships annually to students across our state. FAFSA All senior parents with a student planning to go to college next year, need to complete the FAFSA. FAFSA is free to complete. LOCAL MASON COUNTY 4-H SCHOLARSHIPS Applications are available in the office and on google classroom. Deadline: May 30, 2018 THE OHIO RIVER VALLEY ART GUILD SCHOLARSHIP - ORVAG The Ohio River Valley Art Guild scholarship deadline has been extended until May 9th. The application is attached and also available in the office. MCEA SCHOLARSHIP

5 The Mason County Education Association Scholarship is now available in the office. Deadline is Friday May 11th. THE JOHN GIFFORD SCHOLARSHIP The John Gifford Scholarship is now available. See attached scholarship. Copies are also available in the office. Due on May 10th. THE MAYSVILLE LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIPS Maysville Lions Club Scholarships are now available in the office. Four $500 Money Scholarships will be awarded during the Spring semester of Applications are available in the office. THE ORANGEBURG LIONS CLUB SCHOLARSHIP is available in the office and attached. Deadline May 15. May'sLick CHRISTIAN CHURCH SCHOLARSHIP Two scholarships $500 and $250. Applications are available in the office. ABE GALANTY SCHOLARSHIP TO THE UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY. two $5000 renewable scholarships are available to students residing in Mason County, who will attend UK. This is a need based scholarship. The application is available in the office. MCTC SCHOLARSHIPS Attached is the link to the MCTC scholarships administered through MCTC. There are also others offered by different organizations (Rotary, Younger Women's Club, etc). WOODMEN OF THE WORLD SCHOLARSHIPS - applications are available in the office. Deadline: May 4th. FLEMING-MASON ENERGY SCHOLARSHIPS Ten (10) scholarships to deserving high school seniors, in the amount of $1,000 each. Deadline - May 1st. Applications are available in the office and on the Class of 2018 Google classroom page. LAW DAY ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP Sponsored by the Mason-Bracken County Bar Association -$500 Scholarship. Applications are available in the office. CROUNSE SCHOLARSHIP TO MCTC This is the link to the application. Students need to attach a high school transcript and have a letter of recommendation sent. MASON COUNTY ALUMNI ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP Applications are now available in the office. Deadline: May 4, 2018 MAYSVILLE ROTARY CLUB SCHOLARSHIP Two year scholarship - $1200 per semester. Application Deadline: April 17, Applications are available in the office and attached.

MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR SCHOLARSHIP is now available in the office. Deadline to apply is Monday, April 9th at noon. JERRY GORE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Must be a minority student from Mason, Bracken, Fleming, Lewis, Robertson or Brown County, Ohio who plans to enroll in a two or four year post-secondary institution or technical school. Students must have a 3.0 GPA to apply. Application deadline is April 30th. Applications will be available int he office. PRIMARY PLUS SCHOLARSHIP is offering ONE $2,500 post-secondary education scholarship (college, university, technical school, etc.) to a student in the following Kentucky counties: Lewis, Fleming, Mason, Greenup and Bracken. MAYSVILLE YOUNGER WOMEN S CLUB SCHOLARSHIP TO MCTC Applications are available in the office and on the Class of 2018 google classroom page. THE HAYSWOOD FOUNDATION administers eight scholarship programs. You must be a child or grandchild of a current Mason County Homemaker member. They will award ten $500 scholarships. WOMEN OF THE MOOSE SCHOLARSHIP

7 Student must be a child; stepchild; or be under the care and control of a legal guardian of a current member in Good Standing from Maysville, KY Chapter 1904 or LOOM Applicant must be senior in high school or undergraduate college student between the ages of 17 and 25. Applications are available at the Maysville Moose Lodge or Counselor s office at their High School. Two $250 scholarships will be awarded. VFW SCHOLARSHIP The Simon Kenton Post 2734 Auxiliary Veterans of Foreign War will award multiple $1000 scholarships to the winning students from Ripley Union Lewis High School, Mason, Lewis, Robertson, and Bracken County High Schools. Applications can be found on Mrs. Stewart s google classroom page. FLEMING MASON ENERGY SCHOLARSHIP Fleming Mason Energy scholarship application. Each year, FME gives out ten $1000 scholarships to deserving students who are members of our cooperative. The deadline for applications is May 1, Applications are available through Mrs. Stewart s google classroom page. FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE The FOP scholarship is now available. Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to Mason County seniors. Copies are in the MCHS office or on Mrs. Stewart s. MASON COUNTY MASTER GARDENER SCHOLARSHIP is now available in the MCHS office.
