1 2019 AMAC Foundation Scholarship Application Dear Applicant: The AMAC Foundation awards scholarships annually to students who meet the eligibility and requirements listed below. Students can apply for the AMAC Legacy Award, with a referral from a member of AMAC, or the Aviation and Professional Development Scholarship. Please keep eligibility, ongoing commitment and instructions sheet for your records. Eligibility The applicant must demonstrate interest and desire to pursue a career in the aviation/airport industry and seeking a B.S. or B.A. in Aviation, Business Administration, Accounting, Architecture, Communications, Finance, Civil/Chemical/Structural/Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Environmental Science. Must be a high school student accepted, an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled at an approved accredited college or university with a minimum GPA of 2.5. Involvement in community activities and extracurricular activities. A commitment to involvement in furthering the mission of the Airport Minority Advisory Council by participating in the AMAC Student Program. Successfully complete and submit application materials as further outlined. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Ongoing Commitment Scholarship recipients will be required to continually maintain all the eligibility requirements as outlined above during the awarded term AND provide supporting documentation. Recipients are also required to: Become a student member of AMAC annual membership fee is $25. Communicate with AMAC during the school term scholarship is awarded. All recipients must maintain an active school address throughout the year to ensure all communications from AMAC and AMAC Foundation are received in a timely manner. Submit a semester progress report and copy of grades to show proof of maintaining required GPA. Students are eligible for multiple scholarship awards but must reapply each application period. Recipients are encouraged to attend AMAC s Annual Airport Business Diversity Conference in Los Angeles, CA from August 20-23, 2019 activities specific to Scholarship Awardees will be provided at a later date. Failure to maintain any of the above commitments may result in the revocation of a recipient s Scholarship. Appropriate action will be taken to ensure repayment of any revoked Scholarship award from the recipient. 1

2 Application Submittal Schedule: Applications Due: April 22, 2019 Corporate Review of Applications: April 23 May17, 2019 Scholarship Committee Review of Applications: May 20-31, 2019 Board of Directors Approve Awards: June 10, 2019 Awards Submitted to School: Late August Early September Instructions for Submittal of Application Materials: Applicants must do the following: Complete and sign current scholarship application. If applicant is still in high school, they must submit a letter of acceptance from a College or University. Enclose official transcript from current High School or College/University. Enclose an essay (not to exceed 750 words, please type full name on all pages) addressing one of the following: 1. How have you overcome barriers in life to achieve your academic and/or career goals? 2. Explain your dedication to succeed in the aviation industry and how AMAC can help you achieve your goal. 3. What are some of the most critical issues that the aviation industry is facing today and how do you see yourself changing them? 4. Past Recipients: How has AMAC been instrumental in your career goals and how have you contributed to AMAC? Submit at least two (2) letters of recommendation from persons, who are not relatives that can comment on your academic and career goals. Recommendation letters should contain the following information provided by your reference: name, address, contact number, , and signature. Submit one 5 x 7 (400x600 pixels in JPG or PNG format, PDF format not acceptable) digital color photograph suitable for publication if scholarship is awarded. Submit a two-paragraph biography summarizing employment, volunteer work, awards, and academic accomplishments. The scholarship committee must receive all materials no later than the specified deadline. Incomplete applications or missing backup documentation may result in your application not being considered for award.
