Online applications should be completed by November 1, 2010 at For more information: please visit or contact (973) or Open Houses: Francis Marion University is inviting juniors and seniors to apply to participate in a variety of advanced physics experiments at the 8 th Annual South Carolina Physics Scholars Institute at Francis Marion University on November 4-6. Applications are available at and must be received by September 23, Participants will be selected based on their ability and interest in exploring further opportunities in science. 2 Scholarships: University of Georgia: For students who would like to attend the University of Georgia, academic scholarships, need-based scholarships, and a combination of academic and need-based scholarships are available. For a list of scholarships, please visit Regents Out-of-State Tuition Waivers (full and half) are available for some of these scholarships for students applying for out-of-state tuition. Davidson The Belk Scholarship Eligibility Requirements: For students who would like to attend Davidson, must have outstanding intellectual ability and success, leadership experience, and qualities that show a commitment to service and personal strength. Approximately 40 semi-finalists will be interviewed by phone and finalists will participate in Belk Scholars Selection Weekend, March 24-26,2010. South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program: Eligibility Requirements: High school seniors, legal resident of South Carolina, attending college as a freshman in the fall of 2011, must attend one of the 11 Teaching Fellows Institutions which are currently Anderson University, Charleston Southern University, College of Charleston, Columbia College, Furman University, Lander University, Newberry College, SC State University, USC Columbia, USC Upstate, and Winthrop University. Must be in the process of completing a degree leading to teacher certification, meet criteria to continue in the program yearly, and agree to teach in a SC public school one year for each year receiving loan money. Amount: up to $6,000 fellowship annually for up to four years. 5 permanent resident of the US, GPA of 3.3 (on unweighted 4.0 scale) or have earned GED, be enrolling in an accredited college or university for the first time (except students enrolled in dual credit courses), as full time-degree seeking students, demonstrate leadership abilities, and meet Federal Pell Grant eligibility criteria. Amount: Full or partial tuition scholarships renewable each year for the duration of the degree program as long as maintaining program standards. 6 Eligibility Requirements: For students who would like to attend North Greenville University, 3.0 cumulative GPA, 1100 SAT (Math and Critical Reading sections only) or 24 ACT, and shows leadership in school, church, or community activities. Recent photo is required along with the scholarship application. Amount: $12,000, renewable for four years as long as student maintains 3.2 GPA. Veterans of Foreign Wars Patriotic Audio Essay Competition: Eligibility Requirements: For 9 th -12 th grade students, student writes and records a 3-5 minute speech expressing their interpretation of the assigned patriotic theme. This year s theme is Does My Generation Have a Role in America s Future?
