1 Working to be the BEST BARON AWARD OF EXCELLENCE Certified Staff Classified Staff Volunteers Community Members/Businesses/Organizations Coaches or Sponsors Student of the Year Sponsored by Roush Honda
2 GENERAL INFORMATION The Baron Award of Excellence recognizes individuals who make a difference in the lives of the children of the Buckeye Valley School District. As such, nominees may include: CERTIFIED STAFF CLASSIFIED STAFF VOLUNTEERS COMMUNITY MEMBERS, ETC. COACHES/SPONSORS STUDENT OF THE YEAR (no more than one per building will be selected) (no more than one per classification will be selected) (no more than three per district will be selected) (no more than one per year will be selected) (no more than one per year will be selected) (one student per school will be selected) Nominations can be made by anyone associated with our schools. The number of nominations per award area is not limited. NOMINATION FORMS may be picked up in each building office, the central office or from the district website and must be returned by MARCH 11. The Baron Award of Excellence recipients and their families will be invited to a celebration May 16 hosted by Roush Honda with special recognition by the Buckeye Valley Board of Education.
3 SELECTION PROCESS GUIDELINES A committee to select the recipients shall be comprised of the following: a designee of the Central Office, representative from each building, one of the members of the Presidents Council, and a representative of the BVTA and OAPSE. Nominees will be contacted by April 16 of their selection. To select the recipients, the committee must use the following criteria and rating scale: 1. Each member of the selection committee will receive copies of all nomination forms. 2. Each member will independently rate the nominations on a scale of 1 (low) to 4 (high) in each of the categories listed on the rating scale. 3. All committee members will then meet and average the scores will then meet and average the scores on the nominations. CRITERIA WEIGHT Contribution to Buckeye Valley by involvement in the school community 20% Impact on the lives of children 35% Treats adults and children with respect 15% Promotes the welfare of students in school and community 20% Exceeds expectations of others 10% Once the review of nominations is completed, the committee will select one winner for each classification/category and the winners will be contacted by mail of their selection and invited to attend the Baron Award of Excellence Banquet on May 16, 2013.
