1 June 2018 THE PUSH IS ON TO MEET CLUB FOUNDATION GOALS As the end of the Rotary Year approaches, it is time to make a final push to meet or exceed club Foundation Goals. The latest Rainbow Report shows many clubs have some distance to go to meet their goals. Of our 79 Rotary Clubs: 21 Clubs have achieved 100% of their Annual Fund Goals 55 Clubs have achieved 50% of their Annual Fund Goals 13 Clubs have achieved their Annual Fund Challenge Goal 48 Clubs have achieved 100% of their Polio Goal 18 Clubs are over $200 Annual Fund Per Capita 51 Clubs are over $100 Annual Fund Per Capita 3 Clubs have not given to the Annual Fund 12 Clubs have not given to Polio Please put the push on to meet and/or exceed these goals. The communities that benefit from Rotary Foundation grants and programs need your help! District 7770 Foundation Newsletter June 2018 Issue Eric J. Davis, Editor Page 1 of 5
2 NID TEAM VACCINATES CHILDREN IN INDIA AGAINST POLIO The 2018 NID team, led by RRFC-Designate Nancy Barbee, participated in the January National Immunization Day Eradication Campaign in India. There were 24 Rotarians and non-rotarians from 9 states and 13 districts who dropped the two drops that save a child from the polio disease and a lifetime of pain and disability. Our own Past District Governor Jimmy Williamson went on this year s NID. District 7770 Foundation Newsletter June 2018 Issue Eric J. Davis, Editor Page 2 of 5
3 SHARE OUR FOUNDATION S IMPACT Donors like to know that their contribution will make a difference. Consider using People of Action storytelling techniques to engage current and future donors. The best way to do this is by incorporating certain elements into your story, such as: A clear focus on a Rotary Foundation project in your local community or abroad A description of how you or your club identified a challenge An explanation of how Rotarians and others in the community found a solution to the problem A depiction of how Rotarians saw that project through to completion, whether it s in the works, complete, or ongoing When you share a Foundation story, invite members to take action by making a gift to the Annual Fund, which is the source of funding for district and global grants POLIOPLUS DDF AND PER CAPITA REPORT (AS OF 31 JAN 2018) District 7770 continues to lead the pack in Total PolioPlus giving and Per Capita giving. This data is from January; we may not be in the lead today. Let s make sure we maintain the lead by meeting or exceeding our Club Goals for Polio; we have one more month until the end of this Rotary year! 10 districts (shown in green) have given 20% or more of their DDF. 4 ARCH KLUMPH CHAIRMAN S CIRCLE DONOR GIVES PRESENTATION Wayne Gabby Grabenbauer, our very own Arch Klumph Chairman s Circle donor, gave a program at his Rotary club in May. Gabby had visited Taiwan with his wife Suzan. Carl Davis, our Major Gifts Officer, and Rotary International arranged for Gabby to meet with the Rotary Foundation Trustee and Past RI President Gary Huang. Gabby had a meeting with PRIP and attended a dinner with Gary and 67 Past District Governors from Taiwan. He visited multiple Rotary Meetings and was asked to speak at one (he didn t think anyone understood what he was saying as they didn t speak English). The Arch Klumph Society was created in 2004, during Rotary International's centennial celebration, as a meaningful way to recognize the Foundation's highest-level donors ($250,000 and up). The society's first dinner was held the following year. Today, members' portraits engraved in glass plaques hang in the Arch Klumph Society Gallery at Rotary International World Headquarters. While in Taiwan Gabby met an Arch Klumph Society member that was at the Platinum level, that s $10,000,000 or higher. Gabby said that member must have more money than he does! Upper left - Gabby and PP Suzi Oliver of the Beaufort Rotary Club Lower right - Gabby with District Foundation Chair Sandee Brooks GIVING TO THE ROTARY FOUNDATION AND MATCHING GIFTS More than 15,000 companies have matching gift programs to encourage your support of The Rotary Foundation. Not sure if your employer is one that does? Go to where Rotary s Company Matching Gifts Tool will give you your answer. If your company does, the Tool will detail the conditions and amounts. If it doesn t, check with your company s human resources department. Perhaps they will and Rotary simply doesn t know about it yet. The donor is credited with recognition points for the employer s match, and the donor s club and district receive credit. In calendar year 2016, more than 450 million children were vaccinated multiple times using more than 2 billion doses of oral polio vaccine. Since the inception of the program, Rotary has contributed over $2.2B to polio eradication efforts; it is estimated that 16 million cases of polio have been averted because of these efforts. Promoting Rotary-Direct is a good way to enhance your fundraising efforts. Not only does it make larger donations easier by breaking them into more manageable pieces, it removes the need of remembering to make donations at set intervals. In short, it regularizes donors giving, adding a degree of certainty to their contributions. Over 1,400 Rotarians in Zone 33 are currently enrolled in Rotary-Direct.
