1 Faculty of Arts REGISTRATION FOR ACADEMIC YEAR B.A. YEAR I FIRST AND SECOND SEMESTER B.A. Year I students must complete this form for the study-units to be followed during the 1 st and 2 nd semester of the Academic Year Students need to obtain a total of 60 ECTS during their 1 st year of studies as follows: Area 1-26 ECTS Area 2-26 ECTS Optionals - 8 ECTS Before choosing your elective study-units, it is advisable that you check the timetable available at because if they clash with a compulsory study-unit you will not be able to take it. Please ensure that you do not register for more than 60 ECTS for the whole academic year and not more than 36 ECTS per semester. Optionals choose your optionals from the list of optional study units from your e-sims or from your areas of study. It is very important that you choose Level 1 study-units i.e. the study-unit code starts with 1. LIN1063 Academic Reading and Writing in English strongly recommended. It is also a pre-requisite for Elective study-units PSY2628 and PSY2629 found in the second year. ** Study-unit PSY1617 is compulsory for those students who plan on following the Higher Diploma in Psychology. Students intending to do the Higher Diploma in Psychology may take PSY1617 as an Optional study-unit instead of an elective study-unit if they have an Intermediate Biology at grade C or better. If not, students are required to register for study-unit PSY1630 and then register for study-unit PSY1617 as an Elective during their second year. *** Students who are interested to register for the elective study-unit PSY1635 should have Biology at an intermediate level at grade C or better. If not, they may register for study-unit PSY1630 during semester one and then register for study-unit PSY1635. PSY1635 is also available during the second year of study. Study-unit PSY1635 is compulsory for those students who plan on following the Higher Diploma in Psychology. Although students may register for study-units PSY1617 or PSY1630 as Optional study-units, other Optional Psychology units may not be taken. 6
