2 About the FPI Annual Awards and Ceremony Gala Dinner The FPI Annual Awards Ceremony Gala Dinner provides an excellent platform to interact and communicate with a high calibre of local and international professionals in the financial planning profession and the industry at large. On this occasion, we will be announcing winners of various FPI Awards including the coveted FPI Financial Planner of the Year Award. We will also be hosting corporate and industry leaders, regulators and policymakers at this event, thus presenting a great fun-filled networking opportunity. This year s Gala Dinner will be hosted by one of the most popular presenters in South Africa, Ursula Chikane. She is best known for presenting the MTN Gladiators, as well as the glamorous SABC3 magazine programme, Top Billing. Awards categories FPI Financial Planner of the Year The award recognises the top professional financial planner and also honours the outstanding financial planners from across South Africa. This is the highest accolade a professional financial planner can achieve and prizes include being named the FPI and CFP professional brand ambassador. FPI Harry Brews Award (previously the Chairman s Award) The award recognises an individual who has made life-long outstanding significant contributions to FPI through promoting the Institute and its marks or the financial planning profession in the areas of service to society, academia, training, government, media or any other professional activities. FPI It Starts with Me Award This award, launched in 2015, and in line with the FPI It Starts with Me Programme to recognise the CFP professional who contributes, supports and promotes the CFP mark by; entrenching the CFP mark into their work life and personal brand, volunteering their time and letting others know that they are a CFP professional. 2

3 FPI Media Award The award recognises an FPI member who is actively involved with and has made outstanding significant contributions to the media in the year being assessed (print, broadcast or online) to promote financial planning amongst consumers, the financial planning profession or FPI and its marks. FPI Top Student Award The award recognises the top students who successfully completed the CFP Professional Competency Examination (PCE) to attain professional membership of FPI. The Financial Planning Challenge Award This distinctive Financial Planning Challenge (FPC) is a competition designed exclusively for students studying any financial planning or finance-inclined undergraduate degree programme registered in South Africa. The objective of the FPC is to promote the financial planning profession as a vibrant community and viable career choice. FPI Diversity Scholarship Award Launched last year, the award was established to assist in the mission of FPI to raise awareness and create inclusiveness of diverse communities including but not limited to race, ethnicity and gender in the financial planning profession. The award will go to the person who displays commitment to diversity and has had a significant impact on individuals, communities or organisations promoting inclusivity and creativity within the financial planning profession. 3
