1 2018 Scholarship Application September 25, 2017 Dear 2018 Graduating senior, The Splendora Founders Day Society is pleased to celebrate its tenth year to award scholarships to graduating seniors of Splendora High School! Again this year, the may award up to five scholarships (Scholarships amounts vary by year). Scholarship funds will provide for the tuition, fees, book, or any other educational expense deemed acceptable by the educational institution attended by recipients. Attached you will find the applicant criteria/requirements and scholarship application. Please complete all parts of this application and return it to the high school counseling department on or before 12 P.M. on Friday, April 27th, IMPORTANT NOTICES: AN INCOMPLETE APPLICATION WILL BE DISQUALIFIED. NO APPLICATION WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE DEADLINE. Thank you for your interest in the Splendora Founder s Day society scholarships. 2 Scholarship Application Criteria/Requirements An applicant must be a Splendora High School senior with enough credits to graduate in May, An applicant must attend a higher education institution. The scholarship application must be fully complete. An incomplete application will be disqualified. ONLY WRITE YOUR NAME ON PAGE 1 OF THE APPLICATION. Please do not write your name on any page of the application (or essays, etc. if attached) other than page 1. Failure to provide all supporting documents (i.e. Transcript) will disqualify the applicant. The scholarship application must be turned in to the high school counseling department no later then 12 Pm on April 27, All recipients are required to participate in the 2018 Founder s Day events scheduled for May 11th and 12th, Applicants should make every effort to clear their schedule for the weekend of Founder s Day so they can be available, if chosen as a scholarship recipient. Failure to attend the 2018 Founder s Day events may be cause for disqualification of the scholarship winner. Written request to be excused from these events due to another scholarly conflict should be submitted, in advance, to the Splendora Founder s Day Scholarship Committee. The granting of such absence request shall be at the sole discretion of the Splendora Founder s Day Scholarship Committee. Recipients are requested to attend the high school awards ceremony in May. 2

4 Part 2: Please provide three letters of recommendation. Such letters may be from any person in the community, i.e. Teacher, Counselor, Pastor, City Official, etc. Part 3: Please provide a copy of your current official high school transcript. 4

5 Part 4: Please list all volunteer activities and hours dedicated to such activity. Acceptable volunteer hours may include participation in school-sponsored activities (such as UIL contests), Church activities, Founder s Day activities, etc. Hours not considered volunteer are any in which the applicant received other awards, such as a letter jacket, fundraising in which the applicant benefitted personally, etc. Note: Founder s Day Society volunteer hours are given a higher weight. Any hours noted for the benefit of the must be supported by documentation signed by a Founder s Day Society Member. Said documentation must be attached to this application.
