1 Global Mobility Manager Role Description Grade & Salary: Grade 6 ( 38,183 46,924) Campus Location: Sighthill Line Manager: Line Management Responsibility for: Organisational Structure: Role Summary: Head of Employability & Opportunities 3 x Global Mobility Officers Erasmus Student Ambassador The Global Mobility team sit within the Employability & Opportunities Service and are responsible for managing, promoting and administering the University s reciprocal exchange programmes to Europe (primarily within the Erasmus+ KA103 programme) and to non-european countries. The team support the delivery of the Student Experience strategy by working to support the Schools across the University to raise the profile of exchange opportunities and to identify, create and promote new mobility opportunities for students to ensure that the University s outward mobility targets are met. The Global Mobility Manager provides leadership for the University s student exchange and mobility programmes and strategy, including oversight of the portfolio of institutional exchange programmes and partnerships. The role holder will manage the Global Mobility Officers to ensure that outward mobility growth is in line with Institutional targets, will manage the University s engagement with the Erasmus+ Programmme (KA103) and will have an overview of the admissions process for inbound visiting students and a key role in ensuring their admission and induction to the University is positive and meets the expectations of the University s reciprocal exchange partners. Main Duties and Responsibilities To maintain a strategic overview of outward mobility activity at the University to ensure that institutional targets are met by:

2 - Growing appropriate exchange opportunities in line with student demand, including contributing to the setting of student mobility targets, monitoring performance against objectives and developing innovative exchange opportunities to meet ambitious outward mobility targets. - Maintaining a strategic overview of the network of institutional exchange partners and agreements, identifying opportunities for the development of new partnerships, negotiating new agreements, and reviewing the effectiveness of existing exchange agreements, ensuring reciprocity across exchange partnerships is maintained. - Identifying innovative solutions to enhancing outgoing and incoming mobility, in line with institutional targets - Ensuring that effective tools are used to accurately capture outward mobility activity of all durations so that progress can be measured against strategic targets To contribute to the achievement of the University s outward mobility targets by supporting the Schools to ensure that: - Outward mobility opportunities are available and promoted on undergraduate programmes across the University - Student interest is serviced and queries answered by a visible on-campus presence across the University s three campuses - Essential pre-departure support is given to participants and continued throughout their mobility period - Support for academic staff is available to facilitate the setting up and promotion of outward mobility opportunities to specific student groups To work collaboratively with Schools to manage the Erasmus+ programme (KA103) on behalf of the University. This includes: - Submitting the annual call for funding to the European Commission based on predicted student and staff participant numbers - Managing the Erasmus+ KA103 budget and ensuring that this is disbursed in line with National Agency requirements - Ensuring the accuracy of Institutional activity reported on the EU Mobility Tool - Ensuring compliance with audit requirement of KA103 Erasmus+ exchange activity - Overseeing the allocation of OLS licences to student participants - To ensure that student and staff participant numbers are maximised in line with predicted numbers - To write and submit the annual Beneficiary Report on the University s Erasmus+ activity - Communicating with the University s Erasmus+ partners to ensure the smooth exchange of students, hosting visits of partners and overseeing the drafting of new Erasmus+ bilateral agreements - Where necessary, coordinating and supporting those colleagues who submit bids for International Credit Mobility (ICM) funding To manage the University s network of non-european reciprocal exchange partners by: - Overseeing the approval process and drafting of new exchange agreements - Communicating with partners on key developments at Edinburgh Napier - Hosting visits of reciprocal exchange partners and ensuring an efficient handling of questions and queries To support the Schools to increase the numbers of students participating in short-term mobility opportunities by: - Promoting Summer School opportunities via an annual digital marketing campaign

3 - Sharing best practice on short-term mobility activity amongst academic colleagues - Contributing to the recognition and validation of short-term mobility opportunities - Ensuring short-term mobility activity is accurately captured and reported - Advising on funding sources to subsidise short-term mobility activity To oversee the inbound visiting student intake both fee-paying and reciprocal exchange by: - Managing the Admissions process for visiting students into the University - Ensuring relevant web content is updated and accessible for visiting students - Ensuring questions and queries are responded to in a timely fashion - Promoting and running webinars for visiting student applicants - Offering a Welcome Induction to all visiting students in both September and January - Ensuring a full orientation programme is offered to all new students - Collecting and collating feedback from visiting students to further improve the visiting student experience - Engaging with visiting students via regular newsletters to ensure support with key outward mobility promotional activity To input into dialogue concerning the University s outward mobility activity, contribute to inward delegations and relevant meetings on student exchange activity across the University and to support the preparation of key mobility reports for Senior Committees within the University To continually consider process improvements to maximise efficiency and enhance engagement with the Global Mobility team for students and staff To continually evaluate activity and participant feedback to ensure that the best service is being delivered and that outward participant numbers and the income from fee-paying visiting students continues to grow Providing effective, inspirational leadership for the Global Mobility Officers ensuring that the team remains motivated and committed to delivering a high quality professional service to students and partners while operating within a busy environment. Planning and aligning individual and team activity to meet the broader mobility and global engagement objectives, and ensuring the successful delivery of a high quality student mobility service. To assist the Head of Employability & Opportunities by supporting and/or leading change initiatives prompted by the process, internal projects and developments, and external developments To participate in the University Personal Development Review scheme To undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required by the Head of Employability & Opportunities
