1 A list of Possible Scholarships which use the Local Scholarship Application (One Application) The following is a listing of scholarships which are tentatively available to Big Foot High School seniors. You become eligible for a variety of scholarships by submitting the BFHS Local Scholarship Application Review the scholarship criteria listed in this document. Your application should contain information which verifies those qualifications. Scholarships with financial need listed as a criterion require completion of the Financial Need section of the application. Please note that final awards can include additional scholarships not known at the time this application was published, or may exclude some of those listed here. Questions about the application procedure should be directed to Mrs. Angela Salamone in the BFHS Counseling Office. **This document is for reference. You do not need to fill anything out on these pages. You do need to fill out the 2018 Local Scholarship Application to apply for these scholarships. Academic (General): Elizabeth Ann Ackley Accepted to a qualified post-secondary institution Consistently demonstrated their best even in the face of adversity Involved in extra-curricular activities throughout high school Carbrey Good academic standing Enrollment in a four year, two year, or vocational college Dalco Metals Well qualified academically Leadership qualities Compassion for mankind Citizenship Henderson Attending a Wisconsin School Kikkoman Foods Foundation, Inc. Darrell and Beth Frederick Scholarship No specific criteria, however, has been historically awarded to a student with good academic achievement attending a four-year college. (Students attending vocational college with good academic achievement will be considered.) Good academic standing Enrollment in higher education

Financial Need Intense desire to pursue dreams and goals Potential for achievement Student is an honor cord candidate (3.4 GPA with 28 total credits) Student has experience working with children/students as a tutor, mentor, coach, etc. through a school or community related program Student has no co-curricular violations No specific criteria, however, has been historically awarded to a student with good academic achievement attending a four year college (Students attending vocational college with good academic achievement may be considered) Citizenship Good academic standing Enrollment in higher education in an environmental field Good academic standing Financial need Enrollment in higher education Big Foot Lions Club Big Foot Lions First Responders Walworth Landing Exxon Mobil Emily Sadowsky Scholarship Good academic standing Preference given to Lions Club affiliation Enrollment in higher education Student plans to enter a medical rescue or fire program Students who have worked for the Walworth Landing are encouraged to apply. Criteria: 2.0 or higher. Must be attending some form of higher education, whether it be 2 year, tech, or 4 year. Athletic:

Hinske Eugene and Trudy Small Wickstrom (Higher Education) Senior student graduating in good standing with intentions of pursuing a degree in business at a two or four year school Must have completed four years of participation in athletics in at least one sport Must possess high moral character must represent the ideals and values of the school In the event that no candidate meets the high moral character the scholarship will not be awarded Higher education Government, engineering, business Higher education Government, engineering, business Community Service Based: Helping Hands History of community service/volunteer activities Upper 50% of graduating class Enrollment in an institute of higher learning Minimum post-secondary GPA to renew annually Extra documentation will be required for this scholarship see Mrs. Salamone for further information. Student must not have any co-curricular violations. Additional information, statement, recommendations are required. Please see sheet below.

8 Big Foot Union High School 2018 Local Scholarship Application Page 8 SHIRLEY BROST MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP 2018 Starting in 2004, a $2,500 scholarship became available to a community minded senior of Big Foot High School. This scholarship is renewable annually, for a maximum of 4 years, up to $10,000. It will again be offered to a senior in the Class of 2018, who can demonstrate that he or she is a deserving applicant. Shirley Brost dedicated her life to the betterment of her community until her death in This scholarship has been established with the intent that the recipient will possess the same dedication to community as well exemplified by its namesake, Shirley Brost. Students meeting the criteria outlined below are encouraged to follow the application procedures and submit your materials to Mrs. Angela Salamone. Criteria: 1. History of community service volunteer activities 2. Top 50% of graduating class 3. Enrollment in an institute of higher learning 4. Minimum college GPS of 3.0 to renew scholarship annually APPLICATION PROCEDURE Applicants should compile their application package for this scholarship including the following: 1. A copy of your completed BFHS Local Scholarship Application. 2. Brief summary of your volunteer community service activities during the past 4 years. Include: a. Listing of the activities performed b. Duration of service c. Name of the agency for each area of service d. Name and contact information of the person overseeing your service e. Note if compensation was given for each area of service You may format your summary in any way you think best presents your activities. 3. Submit two (2) letter of recommendation. Your letters should describe your contribution to the betterment of your community through service and should be written by your community service supervisors or others directly connected with participation in the agency you served. General letters of recommendation are not acceptable. 4. Write a one to two page essay answering the following question: What have you learned from community service involvement that will have an effect on you as you pursue your education? 5. An interview will also be required to award this scholarship.

9 Big Foot Union High School 2018 Local Scholarship Application Page BIG FOOT WOLVES ROESNER MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP Starting in 2007, the Mark Roesner Scholarship became available for a senior of Big Foot High School who participated in athletics. This scholarship is again offered to a senior in the Class of 2018 who can demonstrate that he or she is a deserving applicant. Students meeting the criteria outlined below are encouraged to follow the application procedures and submit your materials to Mrs. Angela Salamone. Criteria: 1. Participated in the Wolves Organization as a player or cheerleader, or made a contribution to the Wolves Organization. 2. Participated in at least four (4) athletic seasons at Big Foot High School. 3. Have had no co-curricular violations. Big Foot Wolves Roesner Scholarship Application Procedure Applicants should compile their application package for this scholarship including the following: 1. A detailed listing of all athletic team participation at Big Foot High School including letters and awards earned to date. 2. A list of dates you were a part of the Wolves Organization. 3. A detailed listing of participation in all co-curricular activities, honors, awards and community service other than athletics. 4. A brief statement about any activities you were involved with to help the Wolves organization (i.e. Pig Roast, Lobster Boil, coaching or anything else). Be sure to include the number of times you helped and the years you helped. 5. One or more letters of recommendation from your coach or coaches and one or more letters of recommendation from a non-coaching teacher at Big Foot High School. 6. A brief paragraph explaining why you are deserving of a scholarship from the Wolves Organization. 7. A printed copy of your high school transcript and your local scholarship application.

10 Big Foot Union High School 2018 Local Scholarship Application Page 10 The Strengthening Big Foot Scholarship given by Travis and Kaylee Frederick The Strengthening Big Foot Scholarship was created to support those who have aided Big Foot High School and the community in their high school tenure. First given in 2014, the scholarship recognizes an individual who has high academic and moral standards and has worked to enrich and enhance Big Foot. Students that best take advantage of their time in high school not only prepare themselves for the future but also help Big Foot grow and prosper. Being involved in clubs, organizations, and sports can greatly enhance a student s high school experience while maintaining a sense of community and leadership. This $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to a senior who possesses these qualities and truly cares for Big Foot High School. Students meeting the criteria outlined below are encouraged to follow the application procedures and submit your materials to Mrs. Angela Salamone. Criteria: 1. Minimum of 3.0 GPA 2. Top 50% of class 3. No extracurricular code violations 4. Must be involved in 3 or more activities for 2 or more consecutive years Application Procedure: 1. Complete the Big Foot Union High School Local Scholarship Application 2. Compile a list of the activities and years participated 3. Submit a word essay outlining the ways that you have helped Big Foot grow to better serve the community and the experiences in your high school tenure that sparked your desire to make an impact.
