1 AWARDS COMMITTEE (As revised, 7/18) Please note the following: Conflicts of Interest Conflicts of interest when evaluating award nominees should be avoided. If there is a question of conflict of interest, whether real or perceived (e.g., nominee from his/how own institution; previous preceptor, resident, or fellow; etc.), the committee member should probably abstain from voting on the award in conflict. Obtaining Supporting Documentation Nomination materials should be available through the online nominations portal. The committee should not contact nominees themselves for supporting documentation (e.g., CV, others who could write supporting letters). Follow Up with Award Winners and Individuals Submitting Nominations After the Board of Regents has taken action on the committee's recommendations for a given award, the ACCP staff will contact each award winner and confirm his/her willingness to accept the award. Following those confirmations, staff will send a follow-up letter to those individuals who submitted nominations informing them of the outcome. Carry-over nominations The following rules for carrying over ACCP award nominations shall apply: 1. Clinical Practice, Education, Russell R. Miller, New Clinical Practitioner, New Educator, and New Investigator award nominees can be rolled over for one additional year if the nominee remains eligible and an updated letter of nomination and CV are submitted by the nomination deadline. 2. Robert M. Elenbaas Service Award and C. Edwin Webb Professional Advocacy Award nominees can only be rolled-over by majority vote of the committee and if an updated nomination letter and CV are submitted by the nomination deadline. 3. Therapeutic Frontiers Award nominees can be rolled over for 2 additional years (i.e., the nominee can be considered a maximum of 3 successive times) and an updated nomination letter and CV must be submitted by the nomination deadline. The original nominator will be contacted by the Awards Committee to determine their willingness to re-nominate and update the required documents. However, an individual other than the original nominator may also re-nominate the candidate for the award. Page 1 of 13
