5 Herb and Sue Henderson Continuing Nursing Education Scholarship Herb and Sue Henderson were both critical care nurses before Herb went back to school and became an anesthesiologist and Sue became a Nurse Practitioner. They both understand the importance of continuing education in order to stay up to date with best practices. Sue especially feels the need to give back to the NTSICU nurses at Enloe Medical Center as she was the nurse manager of this unit for three years and was impressed with the compassion and clinical expertise of this group of professionals. This scholarship is to financially support nurses who wish to attend a continuing education seminar or conference to update their knowledge and then bring this knowledge back to the unit where they work. Fund Allocation Two (2) one thousand dollar ($1,000) scholarships may be distributed once a year from the Herb and Sue Henderson Continuing Nursing Education Scholarship. Allocation is to be used to defer costs associated with attending a national nursing continuing education conference. Eligibility Applicants must be current full-time or part-time nurses employed in the NTSICU for at least one year in good standing (no written counselings or suspensions in the past 12 months). Applicants from the NTSICU will be considered primarily. Lacking qualified applicants from the NTSICU, nurses from the ICU/CCU will be considered secondarily. If qualified applicants from these programs are not identified, the scholarship(s) may go un-awarded for the year. Recipient Responsibilities Recipient(s) are required to give one presentation on a nursing best practice topic to the NTSICU staff. This may be done at a staff meeting, Neuro teaching rounds, Trauma teaching rounds or a symposium held at Enloe Medical Center. The manager of the NTSICU will work with the applicant on arranging this presentation. Application Requirements Enloe Foundation scholarship application with attached continuing education registration form and letter of recommendation from unit manager or a unit designated charge nurse is required. EMC Human Resources, Enloe Foundation Scholarship Committee and any additional sources as deemed necessary.

6 Janis Kay Anderson Graduate Nursing Scholarship Janis Kay Anderson always dreamed of becoming a nurse. In elementary school, she read all the Sue Barton Student Nurse books. Janis graduated from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville. Her nursing career was from 1975 to 1996 in the ICU/CCU of Chico Community Hospital and Enloe Medical Center. Janis, a skilled and compassionate clinician, was a charge nurse and eventually became a S.W.A.T. nurse. Well respected and known for her calm leadership, wide smile and professional skills, Janis s love of nursing gently lifted the hearts of her patients and her fellow nurses. Established in Janis s memory by her husband Brian Anderson, this scholarship is to financially support nurses that have a similar passion and skills in nursing that Janis displayed. One (1) fifteen hundred dollar ($1,500) scholarship may be distributed once a year from the Janis Kay Anderson Graduate Nursing Scholarship Fund. Allocation is to be used for graduate level programs at or through an accredited graduate nursing institution. Applicants must be current employees in good standing at Enloe Medical Center. Must be accepted or enrolled into the Master of Science in Nursing Program at CSU, Chico or other eligible nursing educational institution. Recipient is required to give one presentation on the nursing profession to the Butte County Juvenile Hall or local Boys and Girls Club. The recipient can also simply share a cup of coffee with the sponsorship sponsor Brian Anderson, who can help arrange a presentation noted above if the recipient is so inclined.
