2 Course Information Who Should Attend This national multidisciplinary conference is designed for all healthcare professionals involved with the care of injured children, including surgeons, emergency medicine physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, pre-hospital providers and social workers. Objectives Describe current treatment and technological advances that decrease pediatric death and disability Discuss how trauma affects the physical and emotional future of the pediatric patient Identify strategic measures to reduce the incidence of pediatric traumatic injuries ACCME Accreditation Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. AMA Credit Designation Children s Hospital of Philadelphia designates this live activity for a maximum of AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Note: The optional lunch sessions held on Friday and Saturday are accredited for 1.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. American Board of Surgery (ABS) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) 11.0 hours of credit qualify for Part 2 of the ABS MOC, Lifelong Learning and Self-Assessment. Continuing Nursing Education Approved Provider Statement Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Pennsylvania State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. EMS Accreditation Application for Continuing Education credits has been submitted to the Pennsylvania Department of Health Bureau of EMS through the Children s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. Your CEUs will be applied to your Status Report within two weeks of the conclusion of the symposium. Providers from other states will be provided with a certificate of attendance. Social Work Accreditation Children s Hospital of Philadelphia is a pre-approved provider of continuing education credits for Pennsylvania Licensed Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Professional Counselors. Participants licensed in Pennsylvania who attend the full workshop and complete the required evaluation are eligible for 12.5 Continuing Education Credits. 3 Course Information continued Call for Abstracts The oral abstract and poster sessions will focus on topics of interest and importance to all clinicians involved in the care of pediatric trauma patients. Abstracts will only be accepted for review until the submission deadline, Saturday, Nov. 10, To learn more and submit an abstract, go to templetontrauma.org. Hotel Accommodations A block of rooms with reduced rates has been reserved at the Omni William Penn Hotel. The group rate is $185 plus a 14 percent room tax. The special room rate will be available until Monday, Jan. 28, You can make your own reservations by calling the hotel at THEOMNI ( ) and identifying yourself as part of the 2019 Templeton Trauma Symposium. Cancellation and Refund Policy Children s Hospital of Philadelphia reserves the right to cancel or postpone any course due to any unforeseen circumstances. In the event of cancellation or postponement, Children s Hospital of Philadelphia will refund registration fees, but is not responsible for any related costs, charges or expenses to participants, including cancellation charges assessed by airlines or travel agencies. In order to process refunds for course withdrawals, cancellations must be received in writing by Monday, Feb. 11, No refunds will be issued thereafter. Refunds will be issued for the amount of registration minus a $50 service charge. Services for People with Disabilities Participation by all individuals is encouraged. 4 Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019 Course Overview Attend a STN TOPIC course designed to meet the unique needs of pediatric providers! The Society of Trauma Nurses Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course (TOPIC) is taught to all members of the trauma system team who participate in the assessment, evaluation and improvement of trauma care. This course is taught in a one-day interactive modular format, customized to best meet the needs of the individual trauma care provider participants who have varying levels of experience with trauma performance improvement. The course offers practical application for all levels of trauma centers, from entry level to the mature phase of program development. The modules are taught with a focus on didactic, operational definitions, sample tools, case study examples and take-home points. The cost is $400. Physician Continuing Medical Education This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the essential areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and Society of Trauma Nurses. The University of Kentucky College of Medicine is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
