Call and ask APNA Conference RATE When: Saturday, April 30 th, 2016 Time: 8:00 am 5:00 pm Light Breakfast & Registration begins at 7:30 am Program will start promptly at 8:15 am Lunch provided *6 Contact Hours Provided* Purpose: To present advances in psychiatric mental health nursing to assist in caring for psychiatric patients and to meet and network with other psychiatric nurses across the region. List barriers to engagement: Denial, resistance, lack of insight. Discuss 3 engagement strategies for use with people who are court ordered. Implementing a Predictive Violence Assessment Tool: Results on the Pine Rest Campus Lonny Garris, RN, Clinical Informatics Recognize the value of the Broset Violence Checklist (BVC) Discuss implementation process for BVC. Discuss the outcomes of utilizing the BVC. Improving Psychiatric Nursing Outcomes in an Acute Care Hospital David Vander Ark, MSN, RN-C Kevin Hengeveld, MSN, RN-C Discuss psychiatric nursing issues among patients in acute care hospitals. Identify ways of expanding the role and visibility of psychiatric nursing. Explain the benefits of utilizing a psychiatric resource team. The Suicidal Patient-Can We Save Them? Maryanne Swanson, RN, MSN, ANP, PMHNP Identify 3 common risk factors of Suicide. Describe 3 high risk identifiers for suicide in an Evidence Based Assessment. List 3 Evidence Based interventions and appropriate documentation in the care of the suicidal patient. Practice and Dissemination of EBT: Behavioral Couples Therapy for Alcohol/Drug Dependence in the Veterans Administration Steve Gentz, RN, PMHCNS- BC, NP Briefly define the Behavioral Couples Therapy-Substance Use Disorders program. Discuss the research basis for the practice and dissemination of BCT- SUD as EBT in the VA. Identify resources for further study and practice of BCT-SUD. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder: The Expression of Psychological Distress Helene Vossos, DNP, PMHNP-BC, ANP-BC Define the epidemiology and etiology of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Differentiate the difference between dissociative symptoms of depersonalization and derealization and co-morbidity. Evaluate the Evidence Based Practice Treatments for PTSD.
