This blended learning course with two days of classroom training and additional online learning provides you with a rich educational experience that will develop or enhance your knowledge, level of skill, and personal awareness for providing bereavement care when a newborn baby or older child dies. 4 Resolve Through Sharing September 21, 2018 Coordinator Training (train-the-trainer) In this 1-day workshop you will learn how to provide in-services and teach RTS Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death, Neonatal and Pediatric Death, or Adult Death to staff within your healthcare system using Resolve Through Sharing resources. You will also learn the skills you need to establish an interprofessional bereavement program and maintain bereavement care as a best practice. Pre-requirement RTS Bereavement Training: Perinatal Death, Neonatal and Pediatric Death, or Adult Death Attendees are required to view a one-hour video and complete a short study guide. A link for accessing the video and study guide will be provided in your registration confirmation . Purpose The purpose of this workshop is to provide individuals trained in the concepts of RTS with knowledge and skills necessary to develop and implement a comprehensive RTS perinatal, neonatal and pediatric, or adult bereavement program. Register at About the Faculty Education Credit Lori Ives-Baine, credentials Grief Support Coordinator, Pediatric Advanced Care Team The Hospital for Sick Children Toronto, Canada Lori has been nursing in neonatology for 28 years and has been focused on perinatal and pediatric grief for the past 23. She worked as a bedside nurse in the NICU at SickKids Hospital in Toronto and took on the role of Palliative Care and Bereavement Coordinator in the NICU 20 years ago. This work led her to RTS. She has delivered RTS training at her institution for the past 19 years. Lori now works in a hospital-wide role of Grief Support Coordinator with the palliative care service. Lori has a Master in Nursing degree with a focus on perinatal and pediatric grief and bereavement. She has a minor degree in Collaborative Program in Bioethics. In 2017 she completed her Certificate in Traumatology-Community and Workplace. She is passionate about teaching and sharing her knowledge. Lori was a board member with PLIDA for 8 years, an international networking group focused on perinatal loss and infant death. Darryl Owens, MDiv., BCC, CT, CPLC Womens Services Chaplain and Bereavement Counselor Department of Pastoral Care, UNC Hospital Chapel Hill, NC Darryl received his Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill and his Masters of Divinity from Duke University. After graduating, he served as a clinical chaplain at Central Prison in Raleigh. In 2001, Darryl took on his current role as a women s services chaplain and grief counselor at UNC Hospitals where he provides pastoral care services and grief counseling to patients, families, and staff cared for by NC Women s Hospital. Additionally, he manages the perinatal bereavement program, serves on the hospital bereavement team, and co-facilitates community bereavement support groups. Darryl is certified as a clinical chaplain through the Association for Professional Chaplains and is a former president of the organization. He is also certified in thanatology through the Association for Death Education and Counseling and in perinatal loss care through the National Board for Certification of Hospice and Palliative Nurses.
