1 Post-registration Certificate Course in Renal Nursing ( to ) Jointly organised by Institute of Advanced Nursing Studies, Hospital Authority Hong Kong Society of Nephrology Hong Kong Kidney Foundation Hong Kong Association of Renal Nurses Conducted by Kowloon East Cluster COURSE INFORMATION AIM OF PROGRAM To develop the competence of registered nurses in renal nursing in order to ensure a high standard of specialized care for renal patients PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES (PILOs) 1. Describe the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and treatment modalities of diseases/ renal replacement therapies for Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) patients 2. Perform advanced health assessment and assess the impact of clinical findings on the condition of renal patients 3. Formulate appropriate nursing care plan for renal patients based on the health assessment data and incorporation of evidence-based knowledge 4. Organize nursing management in terms of multidisciplinary approach and perform specialized skills for patients requiring haemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, renal transplant or continuous renal replacement therapy in the provision of quality renal care 5. Evaluate on-going therapeutic interventions and clinical outcomes of the care and treatment for patients requiring renal specialty care 6. Appraise nurses roles in renal nursing and prepare for taking up advanced nursing practice, leadership & resource person roles in clinical setting 7. Discuss legal & ethical issues in renal care and apply principles in the consideration of ethical dilemmas and legal implications in nursing practice 8. Communicate patient s information & needs effectively to members in the multidisciplinary team 9. Recognize methods for evaluating healthcare interventions and outcomes 10. Demonstrate ability to conduct innovative clinical projects and adopt evidence-based approach to facilitate continuous quality improvement in the renal specialty COURSE DESIGN AND DURATION A. 3 ENTRY REQUIREMENTS - Registered Nurses with valid practicing certificate issued by the Nursing Council of Hong Kong - Nurses having not less than 24 months post-registration experience (excluding any period of postbasic training) - Completed the e- Learning program 腹膜透析網上課程 : 4 hours - Priority will be given to nurses currently working in renal units or prepared to work in the renal units - Lower priority will be given to nurses who have enrolled in previous PRCC without successful completion Remarks: Registered Nurses who have successfully completed the Fundamental Module from PRCC in Renal Nursing in , or , and meet the entry requirement of the full course would be eligible to apply for direct entry to the Module II: specialty specific module of PRCC in Renal Nursing, subjected to approval of the Program Development & Review Committee.
