1 march June 2012 Certification Training for JHSC Members IT S THE LAW! Look inside for: PART ONE Basic Training PART TWO Hazard-Specific Training HealthandSafetyOntario.ca
2 Did you know that workplaces with 20 or more employees are required to have a joint health and safety committee with at least 2 members specially trained and certified in health and safety? What s Certification Training Ontario s Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requires workplaces with 20 or more regularly employed workers to have a joint health and safety committee (JHSC). At least one worker member and one management member of the JHSC must be certified. Certification involves training in health and safety law, as well as the identification, assessment and control of workplace hazards. Certification isn t just for two members of the JHSC. Join the growing list of progressive companies that provide training to all JHSC members and others, such as managers and supervisors. These companies know that training can help create a stronger, more effective internal responsibility system and reduce workplace injuries. Certification training is a two-part process: PART ONE participants learn about health and safety basics and their duties under the OHSA. PART TWO participants learn how to recognize, assess and control hazards specific to their workplace. Why We re Your Best Choice High quality, results-oriented training our trainers have in-depth knowledge of health and safety and are up-to-speed on the latest training methods for keeping participants engaged a key to effective learning. A variety of courses to choose from in an unmatched number of locations, including your own workplace we deliver training that s widely available, cost-effective and respects your time constraints. Experience and knowledge that s hard to beat we ve been delivering certification training for over 15 years and have trained over 90,000 JHSC members as well as other workplace parties providing them with the knowledge and skills they need to meet or exceed legal requirements.
