4 The Cardiac Team Approach To Cardiovascular Disease Course Information This course was designed to focus on the recent developments and advances in the management of cardiovascular disease for cardiologists, cardiothoracic surgeons, family practice physicians, internists, hospitalists, emergency medicine physicians, and other healthcare team members who care for patients with cardiovascular disease. The topics have been identified based on prevalence in practice, difficulty in management, and advances in guidelines. Educational Objectives Based on the information presented, the participant will be able to: Assess evidence-based guidelines for the management of complex congestive heart failure patients, and be able to apply the strategies to implement and co-manage therapy. Identify the various management clinical guidelines and therapeutic options for atrial fibrillation including, anticoagulant medications, surgical ablation, and hybrid approaches. Apply current diagnosis and treatment methodologies for valvular heart disease in order to improve patient outcomes. Examine various aspects of aortic valve disease including the latest TAVR procedure in order to identify appropriate treatment options for your patients. Analyze evidence-based guidelines and research in order to identify strategies for the management of ischemic heart disease. Identify various cardiac emergencies commonly presented to the emergency department and examine current best practices and strategies of care.
