The T (3) assists the nurse to track the responses of nursing home residents with dementia to new treatments and stop treatments that are ineffective. Over the yearlong study, prepared the materials, trained the nurses using the T (3) protocols, trained all nurses in use of data collection instruments, collected additional data, assisted with coding of the data, researched literature for the manuscript and assisted with the published manuscript. The study found that there were significantly more treatments stopped in the T (3) group residents and the treatments were stopped due to ineffectiveness, problem resolved, change in goals of care, and side effects. The study helped to highlight the importance of research to the health and care of nursing home residents with dementia.
