Further to this, the Occupational Therapist shall strive to maximise individual client outcomes and promote their needs within the clinical environment. OTHER INFORMATION: This is a casual role to provide cover for periods of leave and periods of high workload. There is no guarantee of hours. The role provides an opportunity to join an autonomous team with a varied case mix on the Medical and Rehabilitation inpatient units. Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (or equivalent) and eligibility for membership with the Australian Occupational Therapy Association are essential. Candidates must have current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). It is essential candidates have proven abilities in occupational therapy assessment and treatment of various orthopaedic and neurological conditions using a problem-solving and objective approach. Candidates must have the ability to be responsible and responsive to a situation where a high level of professional autonomy exists. However,
2 must be effective in a multidisciplinary health team and be able to demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility. Experience in a Hospital environment is essential. Splinting experience is desirable.

Further to this, the Occupational Therapist shall strive to maximise individual client outcomes and promote their needs within the clinical environment. 3.0 Key Effectiveness Areas 3.01 Mission and Values 3.02 Administration and Clinical Leadership 3.03 Service Provision Clinical 3.04 Other Responsibilities 4.0 Key Position Responsibilities 4.1 Mission and Values Promote the Mission and Values of Mercy Health and Aged Care Central Queensland Limited; Participate in Mercy celebration and traditions; Attend mandatory annual Mission In-service; and - Adhere to and promote the ethos and standards expressed in the Pocketbook of Excellent and Integrity in the Workplace handbooks. 4.2 Administration & Clinical Leadership - Maintain accurate, current and meaningful records and statistics at all times relating to Occupational Therapy service (example SNAP data and AROC Reports); - Engage in relevant administrative duties for the effective and efficient operation of the Occupational Therapy service; - Provide advice and recommendations to management regarding Occupational Therapy service in the areas of personal expertise, within the Hospital and other Mercy Health and Aged Care Limited facilities and services; - Instruct and supervise the Allied Health Assistant /Nurse and clients in technique and methods of contemporary occupational therapy care and maintenance of continuing therapy as required;
4 - Be responsible for the supervision and assessment of students undertaking placement as required; - Ensure that all purchases and activities relating to the delivery of occupational therapy services are within budget parameters. 4.3 Service Provision Clinical - Provide occupational therapy services to inpatients, outpatient/same day patients. This also includes clients of other Mercy Health and Aged Care Central Queensland Limited facilities as required; - Provide accurate client assessment, treatment programs and progress, within the client s medical record to facilitate communication with other team members. Daily documentation on each client s clinical pathway; - Prepare written reports to referring agencies and other professionals as required; - Ensure that documentation complies with hospital, legal, professional standards; - Provide Assessment, diagnosis and treatment of inpatients and outpatients/same day patients; - Provide counselling and education to patients and families in relation to their individual therapy programs; - Demonstrate a positive approach towards the care of clients and their significant other; - Liaise with other Health Care Professionals, clients families and external agencies as required to achieve optimum outcomes in regards to care; - Participate in team decision making by attending weekly case conferences to report on clients progress; - Communicate effectively with clients, care givers and professional colleagues. 4.4 Other Responsibilities Accept, adhere and promote Workplace Health and Safety requirements, appropriate standards and risk management guidelines to ensure health and safety obligations are met to maintain a safe working environment; Participate in meetings and forums as required; Foster a cooperative work environment and maintain open communication through effective interpersonal skills and appropriate forums; Participate in and recommend quality activities aiming to improve work practices to exceed customer expectations; - Participate in in-service programmes to assist in personal development and to satisfy the objectives of the organisation; Accept individual responsibility and accountability for own performance and professional development; Accept and adhere to all policies and procedures of MH&ACCQL and the Mater Hospital Bundaberg; Undertake other duties as directed by the Allied Health Manager or other designated authority(s). 5.0 Qualifications and Experience Essential 5.1 Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (or equivalent). Eligibility for membership with the Australian Occupational Therapy Association. 5.2 Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). 5.3 Have proven abilities in occupational therapy assessment and treatment of various orthopaedic and neurological conditions using a problem-solving and objective approach. 5.4 Ability to be responsible and responsive to a situation where a high level of professional autonomy exists. However, must be effective in a multidisciplinary health team and be able to demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm and flexibility. 5.5 Demonstrated competence of teaching and supervising other staff and students.
5 Desired 5.6 Experience within Private healthcare and Aged care industry with a keen interest in Rehabilitation. 5.7 Ability to effectively prescribe equipment and home modifications for safe and timely discharge. 5.8 Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form to enable effective service delivery and documentation.
