1 Equality Information 2018 January 2018

2 1. Purpose The purpose of the data in this document is to provide key equality data about our workforce and hospital and community services patients for the period 1 st October th September This report and the Equality Report 2018 are produced and published to meet Public Sector Duty requirements of the Equality Act Background Patient information reported relates to gender, ethnicity, age, marital/ civil partnership status and religion and belief. Information for other protected characteristics (sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy and maternity information and gender reassignment) is collected where it is relevant to immediate health care needs but is not reported here. Workforce data relates to eight protected equality characteristics which are gender, ethnicity, age, disability, religion or belief, sexual orientation, marital/ civil partnership status and pregnancy/ maternity status. Currently gender reassignment data is not gathered. 3. Conclusions The workforce data is similar to previous years, however there is a steady increase in the proportion of staff from BAME backgrounds (3% point increase since 2015). Patient data is also generally similar to previous year s findings with positive patient survey responses and representative patient usage of our services. Analysis of this data is included in the Equality Report 2018, highlighting areas for further attention and areas where improvements have been made. 2
