4 INTRODUCTION This report identifies healthcare professions with notable vacancy and turnover rates and will provide information on future workforce demands. In January 2015, Compdata Surveys collected workforce data from 50 Georgia hospitals employing 44,398 full-time equivalent employees. Eight of these hospitals, employing 1,148 full-time equivalent employees are classified as critical access hospitals. The data collected for this report was from the calendar year and the results are provided by state, as well as by GHA district. No data elements are reported with fewer than five participating organizations. If the minimum sample requirements are not satisfied, an asterisk () is displayed. Due to insufficient data provided in 2015, Northern Georgia and Southeast Georgia are included in statewide vacancy and turnover rates, but do not show as a separate breakout. In 2015, vacancy rates in Georgia averaged 5.9 percent of the positions surveyed. rates averaged 12.8 percent of positions surveyed. Comparatively, critical access hospitals experienced a lower vacancy rate of 3.2 percent and a lower turnover rate of 8.3 percent of the jobs surveyed. 5 LABOR FORCE & EMPLOYMENT LEVELS In, the Georgia unemployment rate remained stable, ending the year at 6.6 percent, which is down from last December at 7.4 percent. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the national healthcare industry has experienced growth with an average of 32,500 jobs added per month over the past year. 58 FORECASTS The national unemployment rate has slowly dwindled over the past couple of years and continued to drop throughout. It ended the year at 5.6 percent. This is the same end of year unemployment rate as the South region, which declined ever so slightly throughout the year, varying between 6.4 and 5.6 percent, before dropping to 5.6 percent in December. 59 FORECASTS The unemployment rate for Georgia held steady through much of around 7.3 percent, before continuing its decline in July. Seventeen percent were critical access hospitals. Overall, healthcare organizations spent more than $6.2 million on temporary employees. However, the average spent per hospital was over $400,000.
